I just ordered a 448 BH for a 4410 JD. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I have been trying to find detailed specs on it and/or user manual for it online. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I couldn't find anything on JD's web site. However, I did see that they didn't recommend the 448 for the 4410 tractor, go figure? My dealer said I could use either the 447 or the 448. I'm guessing the web site is not updated regularly and the dealer has information direct from JD saying it's ok to run the bigger BH. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The 48 backhoe is the one designed for the 4410. They have made the 448 "backwards compatible" for that model as well. The 48 may be going (or gone) out of production, but you should be able to find one. The 48 is a bit more straight-lines and massive in looks, compared to the sweeping curves of the 447/448. Everyone has their own sense of what looks right, but from an aesthetic point of view, I prefer the 430 loader and the 48 backhoe on the 4410. Some will argue that the 300CX loader has more power (marginally) and less view obstruction over the hood (also marginally in my view). I'm glad I got mine before the "aerodynamic" look took over.

I purchased a new 3320 with the Power Beyond and third SCV for a backhoe. The dealer supplied me with a bungee cord to hold the lever in the rear postion in order to supply the Power Beyond hydraulics. It does work, but does not seem like the right solution. Any suggestions?

The backhoe should be plumbed direct to power beyond and not through a SCV. I'm not sure how your third SCV is plumbed but you should be able to get a power beyond connection downstream from it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wow, that's wild.

The power beyond and the 3rd SCV are two different kits, both compatable with each other, and I'm sure for proper
performance of the backhoe you need the power beyond. The return lines on the power beyond dump directly into
the tractor unrestricted, where now with the SCV I'd get there's a lot more restriction of the oil coming out of the backhoe, and could cause for excessive overheating and/or
loss of performance. If the dealer installed this backhoe this way, I'd say he owes you the power beyond.
Let us know what they say..

I am with Dutch! You need that corrected ASAP!!

What backhoe?

If you can, take a pic of the rear of your tractor with the hoe removed, so we can see the fittings...

Thanks for the input. It's a 447 backhoe. There are two female quick couplers mounted on the machine, which the hoses to the backhoe plug into. They are live when the SCV lever is pulled into the rear position. Midposition the loader operates, and according to the manual, forward position, where the lever will also stay, is "float" - "to remove pressure in both connector lines and allow fuid to flow back and forth between the lines" I actually haven't tried operating the bh in that position since I was told to do it the other way and it worked. I'll check with the dealer about the plumbing and let you know what he says.

On the 48 backhoe and a 4410 tractor, the Power Beyond Kit put three hydro outlets at the back of the tractor. When the BH is off, the aux line runs from supply (labeled "A" if I recall correctly) to the return loop ("B") which runs to the rockshaft control and the final outlet ("C") is capped. When the backhoe is attached, the "A" line is connected to the supply side of the hoe, the return line attaches to "C" and "B" is capped. This bypasses the rockshaft controls so that the hoe cannot be inadvertently lifted off its mounts.

The backhoe plumbing on this set up has NOTHING to do with the third SCV.

The system as you have described it seems wrong. You are relying on the float position of the SCV to supply the hydro to the hoe (which it might or might not handle sufficiently) and your rockshaft is not bypassed, which means that you could accidently lift the hoe off its mount and possibly damage the rockshaft arms. If the pins are in correctly, I doubt you could dump the hoe off the back, but I can see where it would put a lot of stress on the rockshaft arms.

I mentioned the models when I started this because things do change, but I cannot imagine that JD has designed a hoe to attach to the SCV when they have a proven workable solution otherwise. I think your dealer either didn't know how to do it, or is trying to pull a fast one on you by selling you what they have instead of what you need.

this sounds even worse!
are you saying they are using your joystick lever to control
oil flow to the backhoe??
incredible....
