4400 won't crank dash lights on

Mowing along and tractor just shut down. The dash lights are on and there is no click from the fuel shut-off solenoid when the key is turned on. PTO lever in neutral, parking brake is on, hydro in neutral. Lights do not dim when key is turned to the start position. Could the seat safety switch cause this?

If your starter turns the engine but no start I would try the fuel shut off relay, on your fuse panel, and the diode which is in the back off the panel on that same relay. The diode seems to be perty common problem with this tractors. I had the same problem, bought a relay and a diode but I had solved the problem a that instant with a good wrap on the fuse box and it got going......two years now but I know some day I will have to change one of those parts. Cannot remember where bot on a tread here somewhere theres a diagram and pictures that show the diode and how hard its to get to it. In the fuse box fuel shutoff Relay is K3 and the diode in the back side of the fuse panel, off the same relay. Let me know if its works for you......salut

It will not turn over and I do not hear the fuel shut-off click when the key is turned on. From the posts that I have read here it sounds like either the seat safety switch or the PTO safety switch. Because it was running along and then just died makes me wonder if the seat switch went bad.

That is what it sounds like. The seat switch is the easiest one to get to. A replacement switch costs just over 20 bucks. You can temporarily jumper the switch to see if the tractor starts. There are also potentiometers below the hydro pedals. If they get out of adjustment, that can result in no cranking (tractor thinks it's in gear).

Thanks Roy. I got under it and I could hear the pedal switches clicking when I would move them. I also tried moving the pedals and the PTO lever while I was holding the key in the start position with no luck. I will try jumping the seat switch and see what happens.

O.K. When it stopped I checked some of the fuses, but apparently not the right one. After looking at the schematic I pulled F5 and it was blown. I replaced it and it ran for five hours today without a problem. Thanks again.

Actually, I'm guessing the fuse has been in there for years and it may have been a little corrosion on the holder. As long as it doesn't blow again, shouldn't be a problem. If it does, there may be a wiring problem.

This fuse 5 has all to do with shut down system and no start, is suppose to be a 10 amp fuse. The culperate here could be a diode in block v1 between 4 and 5 therm. Could be lots a testing to do if the problem comes back......good luck
