montana 4940
Have about 40 hilly acres in the Missouri Ozarks, 2/3 clear, 1/3 wooded. Mostly need a tractor for bush hogging the land, grading the drive and the other dun stuff that goes with keeping up the land. May also be setting up to keep 2 or three horses.

I have been looking at both the Montana 4340 and the 4940 and have been kind of leaning toward buying the 4340.... most aspects of the two models seem similar and the 4340 seems to be about $2 to $3 grand cheaper than the 4940. Seeing little difference between those models other than the 6 horse power. are there any opinions from others who have tried or bought either model?

Overall the Montana's seem to be a good product and a heck of a deal for the price. I don't want to spend more than I need to but also don't want to be penny wise and wish I had the extra horse power.

Thanks

Cheezer,
Got about 30 hrs on my 4940 now. So far only one problem with the headlights coming on when brake are pushed(fixed). My choices were 5740 or 4940 as well as other makes. Went with the 4940 because I'm doing orchard work and needed a lower profile tractor without stack exaust. I also have the option of rolling some hay and the 4940 will hadle a small round baler.

I've run a 6 ft shredder through 2.5 ft bluestem(superthick) and didn't lose any rpm in second gear high. No shortage of power.

For 2-3k more I'd go with the 4940.
