I wanted to make sure that I had gotten some of the upgrades for my 4310 before they are gone from the pipe.

I figured the most important were the skid plates, but I also wanted the creeper option (SpeedMatch)

I have my Skid Plates mosty installed. They really are nice! They are probably worth the $321 I paid for them... They are heavy plate, include all the hardware and protect very well. There still is access to the filers for servicing. Nice job.

I also got the eHydro tranny upgrades that give you a fancy resume cruise control and the creeper option ( I wanted the creeper, and you have to get the cruise to get it...) It is ~$100 for two switches and a little pigtail. Whew, talk about markup!!! Nieman Marcus would blush! But, I ended up with an extra switch, and it will work as a light switch for my work lights (they are rated at 20A!)

The switches are very easy to install, but a Drememl Cutter would bemuch better than using the utility knife the otherwise fine instructions suggest. That plastic is terribly tough stuff!

The biggest other option that I lack is the midPTO. I think that I would rather find an 18 hp diesel with it's own belly mower than add one to the 4310. I don't think that it would be much more, and than maybe I could actually use something.

I have said before, it would not surprise me that some options disappear for these. Parts will be fine for a long time. I just wanted to be sure that the things that I would want were in my hands before they went away.

I didn't take pictures of the install, because the manual is so good. I will scanit if anybody would like to see it, just pm me!

Heavy-Duty Skid Plate Kit (4210-4410) LVB25453 $327.00

HEAVY-DUTY SKID PLATE KIT

595097-skid%20bundle.gif

The heavy-duty skid plate kit is designed to help protect the tractor from damage when used in rental applications. It is also ideal for any application where the tractor will be operating in the woods or in areas with dense brush or rough undergrowth. Components include:

Left- and right-hand skid plates to protect the underside of the tractor
Suction screen guard
High-range speed lockout
Electronic switch close-outs
Mounting hardware

The plate is 3/16", the center piece is 1/2" stock. The front connects to the front of the step on the left, and to the dscv outlets on the right. The back tail pieces attach to the bolts for the ROPS.

Having just used a 4310 in the woods, I can see where the benefit would be! Does the high range lockout have switchability?

If you happen across the plates for the 3720, please pass on the details. Thansk, JK

Us 4310 owners must think alike. I was thinking the same thing this weekend. I have been doing alot of dozer work on the future homesite. There are some areas that will not necessarily be lawn, but I will want to mow the area every 2 to three weeks. because of the slopes and hills I won't try tackling it with my JD Spin Steer. I would much rather have a dedicated mowing tractor for that area. Maybe a nice little JD650 with a belly mower.

Oh, well there are worse folks to end up being like... Did I mention that I am gonna build a barn like yours, too?

The skid plates are part of a rental upgrade bundle, the "c" lockout is for that... It is a bolt on stop, not easliy switched out. I will just throw mine away, but I could send it to anyone that wants it!

There are also blanks to fill the switch holes, so renters can't touch them, either...

Haven't found the kit fot the TWENTYs, but it should be in JDParts under hydraulics...

I'm trying to figure out how these skid plates might help for wheelies and jumping our 4310's. Oh, I think I figured it out. You're going to use orange machinery to cushion your landing.

Attached is how you should have mounted those switches.

Thanks for the info Mike!
