For those 4310 owners with the front mounted snowblower:

How many $ did the snowblower add to your deal?

Does the snowblower include hydraulic chute rotation control and/or chute deflector control?

How easy is it to take on and off? I'm thinking if I want to drop the snowblower and attach the FEL during the winter.

Are you happy with its operation?

Thanks for your input.

Jeff,
I have the 59" blower on a 4200, you would use the same blower on a 4310. Mine cost a hair over $4000 three years ago. The 59" blower includes hydraulic steering of the discharge chute (train only, elevation is a manual adjustment). It takes me about 2 hours to remove the interferring MMM associated brackets and shafts and the hood guard and install the SB bracket, drive shaft and blower itself. Once I have installed the SB I forego use of the FEL for the season. You might be able to put on the FEL if you were willing to use it without the hood guard, however, the SB attachment bracket is very close to the ground so you would have limited clearance and it would be a very tight fit. I am exceedingly pleased with the performance of the blower, I can do 420 feet of drive and two turn around areas in about 20 minutes regardless of the amount of snow or what kind of presents the county plows have left me. You can't beat the JD 59" blower for the kind of snows we have had in CNY the last few years.

Thanks for the input Bill. Sounds like the SB is not qwik detach. I won't necessarly need the FEL especially since I won't be making the piles of snow that I currently make using a 3PH mounted blade.

What size MMM do you have on your 4200?

hi, we also have the jd 59 snowblower on our 4310 ehydro. we love it.as stated earlier moved any and all snow that came our way this year and blows it out a good 30+' depending on snow.in our deal from kc canary fultonville, great people to deal with,it was 3500.00 this included install of any brackets etc. as stated above hyd chute rotate but manual height adj.we don't have a fel but can take off or install just the blower fairly quick, but don't have to remove any brackets and leave the drive shaft in,we use a 3 point mower with ours. i'll try and find a picture from this winter blowing snow.if you have other questions feel free to ask.
thats our set up before delivery last year. can't find the ones from this winter right now but will continue to look

Thanks mopar. I don't have a lot of driveway to clear and have always done it with a 3PH mounted blade (7') facing forward. I pull the snow nearly to the end of the driveway and then use the FEL to pile it off to the sides. I use a walk behind snowblower to cut a path from the front of the house, around to the back and then to the barn. This takes the most time. It will be nice to get rid of the walk behind and the blade.

Do you find the need to fiddle with the chute height adjustment much or do you just set it and forget it?

Have you ever chewed into hard packed snow, such as a snow bank, with it?

With no cab, how is the snow blowing in your face factor? I realize you want to blow down wind but somtimes the wind is changing directions, gusty or you just don't want to blow snow in the direction of down wind because of house, cars etc.

Thanks for the picture. I showed it to my wife to let her see what else I was adding to the 4310 package. I have not got her to say "uncle" yet so next up is a tiller /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks all.

Jeff,
I have the 60" 7 iron MMM. The 4200 with the 60" mower is a bit heavy for around the house so I purchased a JD LX175 with a 38" mower for the close in lawn. Additionally, the wife uses the LX175 with a 10 cuft trailer as a general purpose mechanized wheel barrow for what ever she wants to do.

Jeff,
I set the chute elevation adjustment and basically leave it alone. Hard pack is no problem, on the other hand thick ice, a rock or a tree limb hidden in the hard pack could be cause for a shear bolt failure. Blowing snow when you have an unfavorable wind can be uncomfortable if you aren't dressed right. I wear a snow suit, a ski mask, ski goggles and a tight winter hat and still look like frosty the snowman if the wind isn't favorable. On the other hand it can't be too bad, as I usually do my neighbor's drive just for fun after I do my own.

we mostly keep the chute at one setting and go.as for the snow blowing around we get in our snowmobile suits including full face helmets with heated shield pluged in,we have a plug mounted on tractor for this, and let the snow blow where it may,i've got to find those pictures!! the only real hard pack we have had is at the end of the driveways where the plow dumps the snow,no problems.we have broke 2 shear pins on the auger only due to some rocks, our drive is bank run gravel, but they are a breeze to change less than 5 min including getting the wrench,it's all done from the outside,no cover to remove and the blower comes with 4 mounted right on board with it.
