just got a 4310 hydro, one word, awesome. first tractor. seems though, that when i let go to stop in reverse it seems to run on for a few seconds and then stop. very weird since forward is seemless and i can stop and start whithin a dime (literally). if i just touch and release or just feather
(example: trying to line up the loader) the reverse pedal it does the same thing, runs on about a foot or. Anyone had any ideas or do they 'all do that'. I've learned to just make sure a do all the implement line up chores while going forward. It's just odd that its so precise forward but reverse is so whishy washy???

I've had my 4410 for 3 weeks now, and like you and others have said,.......... AWESOME!!!!.......... I have however not had the issue with different stopping distances between forward and reverse. I usually keep the motion match in the quick response mode and just slow down the foot action. This also stops me quicker if I get into trouble.

It almost sounds like the electonics is controlling this, but only in reverse? Have you tried both the fast and slow modes of the motion match?

Yes, I have tried both motionmatch speeds and it works, the tractor slows down quicker or slower in forward or reverse. It's just that once it gets to crawl speed it continues to crawl a foot or so, but again only in reverse. Called Dealer and he said he'd stop by in the next few days to take a look. Gotta love good dealers.

As there is no mechanical linkage between your forward and reverse pedals and the transmission, the problem could just be a potentiometer adjustment needed. There is also a different transmission controller used on newer tractors depending on serial number this may help your problem. Best bet is to ask your dealer to check with factory. I have a new 4310 and roll-out is the same for forward and reverse.

Just be aware that branches and debris can get caught in the pedals underneath the tractor. I found this out the hard way, had to turn the key off to stop the tractor. You would think there would be a cover over these to prevent this. I think if you hit both forward and reverse pedals at the same time, the trans goes into lockout mode and the service light starts flashing. That means restart the engine.

As a 4310 Hydro owner I have not experienced a difference in slow down between forward and reverse! With motion match engaged you had better have your seat belt on in forward or reverse!
Sounds like an adjustment of some sorts is needed!

Well, I finally got it back. Dealer had sent their mechanics to JD school, as mine was the first with trouble. They said they spent so much time on troubleshooting electronically that they said hell with it and just repleaced the computer, and now works great. Forward and reverse are smooth and equal. I have to concur with the dealer, cause I bought the service manual and it looked like hours to test out each funtion, rather then the automobile style, plug in code reading. Maybe they'll get there. Dealer was great, while waiting to figure everything out, they updated my tilt steering, rear links, and put on a front grill guard, N/C. Looks like they cleaned and touched her up too, cause it looked new again. Now if it goes a year without any E-trouble, chances are it never will.
