Thanks to all those who posted. Drove it, removed the BH and adjusted the rockshaft height, reattached the BH, played with the FEL and then parked on level ground. Oil is in the middle of the sight glass. I know I overfilled it by a couple of quarts but checked it a couple of times and it returns to the middle of the glass. Could this transmission hold more oil than normal? I didn't really measure the used oil but it sure seemed like there was more than 6.8 gal when it drained out. Could there have been air in the lines, etc and it finally bled off and settled down? Fairly new to a piece of equipment like this so still wondering.

I remember adding more than what the manual called for on my first change. I added it over a period of time ( hours - with some use and allowing cooling and settling each time ) and it was indeed required to get it up to the glass level window. If I remember it took about a half gal extra.
