4310 eHydro HELP.......Won\'t move

Got up this morning and went down to get the tractor. Drove up to the house, fueled up, and nothing.... Engine runs....Hydraulics work (bucket, hitch etc.)

Hydraulic fluid level was good, however it had a milky look to it. Drained fluid, replaced suction filter, and refilled fluid. Tractor operated normal for 10 minutes then would stop moving. Milky color returns

Will call dealer on Monday to have it picked up, anybody have any ideas. Looked cooler over real close, no sign of leaks and level was good.

Usually if someone says their e-hydro won't move, I suspect a calibration problem or bad sensor. The milky oil puts a different slant to the problem. You said you replaced the suction filter, was it the sump screen or the spin-on filter? Has the tractor been out in the rain or been driven through deep water that could have gotten water in the transmission? Another way the oil could look milky is if there is a leak in the suction line causing the oil to be aerated. This should clear up after the oil sits awhile. Since you say the hydraulics are working ok I doubt it is aeration though. Milky oil in itself shold not cause the transmission not to work except in cold weather when oil can freeze. Although prolonged use of tractor with water in the oil can cause catastrophic transmission failure. Does the transmission make any unusual noises? If not, i suspect an electrical problem. The tractor unfortuately is stored outside, so it is subject to the elements. As far as deep water is concerned, no issues there, more concerned about these mountains.

I didn't check the sump screen. Local dealer didn't have a gasket in stock......and my luck was running bad.

The suction filter is the spin on type. Didn't cahnge the tranny filter as they didn't have one in stock.

I tend to agree with the aeration theroy. I'll bet if I walked down to look at the site glass right now it would be dead center with a amber tint (oil color)

I really don't think I've gotten water or glycol in the transmission. The oil was dark that came out, but nothing to get excited about. I set a 1/2 gallon mason jar on the bench to see if anything separates out. Will post in the morning.

The sensor\calibration issue makes since. I can watch the service light and about predict if it will work or not. I tap the pedal if the light comes on, I'm dead. If it doesn't I'm off and running. Intermittent and unreliable. Sometimes I can raise or lower this hitch or cycle the bucket and it'll work, other times I have to shutdown, say a few choice words, and it'll decide to move.

At any rate, I got the box off the back and the loader as well, I'll run it out Monday or have the dealer pick it up.

Went down this afternoon to have another check of things. Hydraulic fluid is just above 1/2 way in the sight glass and color is normal.

Checked the 1/2 gallon I had set aside to see if I has water or glycol mixed in..........no separation had occurred.

This makes me think areation is causing the milky color when running.

The tractor is stil intermittent in it's movement. Jumped on drove around the parking area, when to back up.........no move. Waited and cussed a bit, and backed it back to my parking spot.

Will get ahold of the dealer 1st thing in the morning........will post when I know more.

Check your seat switch. By pass it to check it.

Also, there are switches on each foot pedal that are usually not a problem unless you hit them.

Please post what the dealer comes up with. My 4410 e will not move on occasion. I usually just cycle the pedal and it will be ok for an hour or two. Mine may be on its way south too. Hope you can provide some extra input. Thanks

We have seen a couple cases of loose wire connectors under the floorboard.
Also, if both hydro pedals get pushed accidentally at the same time, I think it throws the tranny into a neutral,, but I thought that solved itself within a couple seconds of removing the foot from the pedals....

Check the flashing light on the right fender. There should be a check code light that flashes. It is important to determine if the flashes are long or short and and the numbers. I have the tech CD (with the codes) which should give you a place to start.

Ditto on the seat switch and I belive this is the place to look (IMHO).

Do you have a BH attached? I have a 4310 with a 48 BH. I could't figure out why it wouldn't move (intermittent). The BH seat was up against the driver seat and just kept the seat switch from making contact even though I was sitting in it. Felt like such a fool...

I changed the fluid and filters and the fluid, in the sight glass, looks clear. After driving, etc, it looks "milky". It really isn't milky but has air bubbles etc from use. Let it sit and you should see it clear up.

Intermittant wires to thge pedals could sure be the culprit!

Spoke to dealer this morning. They will be up to get it tomorrow morning. Will post the outcome.

I'll try to get the flash codes, check the seat switch (again), and look for loose connections under the pedals if I get a second wind. Been fighting a troybuilt tiller today. Float pivot\retaining pin (carb) keeps sliding out. Naturally no one around has a pin or a rebuild kit......

Such is my luck......No tractor, no tiller, and my lab makes a piss poor mule. Back to the hoe & shovel for another day or two.
