I am in the market for a JD 4300 and was wondering what a fair price is. I have a quote from a local dealer that includes folding ROPS, 4WD, turf tires, hydro tranny, dual selector control valve, 3pt hitch. He is asking $17480 for this. He wants an additional 3580 for the 430 loader with 73" HD bucket. I think that this price is kinda steep. Does anyone have any idea of what a fair price may be and where I could find someone to sell me one for that price. Any information would be deeply appreciated. You can post or better send e-mail to paulb@blast.net and again thanks.

Paul, It is too much! I have the same tractor with R4 tires and paid 18,900, that included the 430 loader. The way I did it was to go to other dealers and tell them I was buying within the next 30 days and I needed their best price. The dealer I purchased from had the best reputation and was also the one who impressed me the most. But he was also the highest in price. I went back to him and told him the prices I had and he came down $2,000 from his original price to make the deal. Make sure your 4300 was produced after March 1, 2000 as all major problems were taken care of by then. I did compare Kubota 3010, NH 33D and the 4300 and after testing all 3 the JD seemed to have more power and was more friendly to me than the rest. My 4300 has been one of the best products I have ever purchased with no problems after 145 hours. It has done more on my 13 acres than I expected it could do and I am totally satisified with this tractor. I hope this helps you and hope your have a successful Deere hunt.

Paul,

Luther's price is in line with the quotes I received from dealers in my area (northern Illinois). Happy hunting!

Paul, I bought a 4300 in September 2000. My machine is identical to your quote except R-4 tires. After looking around in three states, I paid $15000 for mine. So far the machine has been excellent. Keep an eye on the left rear wheel bolts.

Rick,
I'm also in market for that size tractor and live in Indiana. Where did you buy your tractor? Did you get any other options besides the R4 tires that are different from the first posts?

barnmedic---- I finally purchased my tractor and implements at General Equipment Company, Scottsboro, Alabama telephone (256-259-0704). The sales person that I delt with was Jeff Webb. Equipment purchased: JD 4300 MFWD Hydro R-4's folding rops DSCV =$15000 60 inch JD mid mower =$1900 Land Pride 2555 tiller=$2400 Land Pride 3572 rear blade=$900. All was delivered to my place 300 miles away in Virginia. Overall, I think I got a pretty good package deal, however I probably could have saved a little on the Land Pride equipment. As far as dealers go (having negotiated with several) General Equipment rated very high IMHO. I plan later to get a 430 FEL and I will definately give Jeff a call. Much Obliged

I was out today dickering with prices. I went to a prominent New Hampshire dealer. (NO SALES TAX IN NH) And the price I keep getting on a 4300 / HST / 430 / Loader / Calcium Loaded Turf Tires / Folding Rops / and #272 Rear Finish Mower.... $26,500 !!!!! Now, I told him that was High, he got the owner out, and they are telling me that they add "SETUP COST" on top of the list price. And that is why they are wanting $26,500 for the tractor. I called a smaller New Hampshire Dealer and he gave me a price of $22,000 total for the same machine. I showed the big dealer my quotes and he went thru the roof and still wouldn't come down on price. And he acted all mad at the other dealer, like he was breaking the Brothership Code of Dealing John Deere. And this other dealer is fully authorized. And the Big dealer only wanted to give me $17,000 for trade in value on my previous 4200 HST / 420 Loader / 72" Belly Mower / Loaded Turf Tires / New Axle / 300 hours. It is in great shape, but just wanted to upgrade to a little bigger machine, and no longer wanted the belly mower.. What should I be getting for a deal here in New Hampshire for the 4300 Hydro Package I want? And is this setup charge on top of list price a bunch of Bull or what?????

Jason, can't comment on the 4300 pricing in particular, but depending on where in NH you are, give Sirum Equipment (talk to Ed or Adam) in Mass a call. They are only about 15-20 miles from the southwest NH border. (They are in Montague Mass). I found them willing to negotiate and overall had a positive experience. A neighbor of mine just got a 4300 and while I don't remeber exactly what he paid, he mentioned that it was about 15% under list...I got a 5410 last year and and got pretty close to 20% under list if I remember correctly...I don't believe he will need to charge sales tax as long as he delivers to NH.

Good luck.
