I have a question about my 4300. it has about 500hrs on it. Why want my lift arms stay up if not running? Also I’ve noticed when I have my lift arms all the way to the top I have a little ‘jump’ in the lift about every 30 seconds. Do I have bad seal or O-ring?

Thanks,
Jason

Almost all three point hitches leak down to some extent. Since your three point has position control, the valve will open after it drops a small amount. Although I have never actually timed mine, every thirty seconds sounds a bit frequent. How heavy an implement do you have on when this happens?

I've have to time the jumping this weekend, but it happens on heavier attachments when I have the lift lifted to the very top. It never happens when I have it half way or so.
Now, the other question is when I have the engine off. Is it normal for the lift to leak down?

I have no idea what would cause it to only leak when the three point is all the way up. I would expect it to leak at most any position if it leaks at all. There is an adjustment on the end of the control cable that might cause the valve to continue to send hydraulic fluid to the piston after it reaches the end of the stroke if it isn't adjusted correctly but I would expect that to be a steady thing, not intermittent. Every thirty seconds sounds like it is leaking down at a predictable rate.

I'd consider it normal. If I forget to lower my ballast box (about 600 lbs) it will leak down in a few hours. It has done this since it was new.

If you have a heavy implement attached and in the raised position. As you travel along over uneven terrain the bouncing motion of the implement will generate spike pressures within the rockshaft, there is a surge relief valve to protect the rockshaft and it's housing against these pressures. When this relief valve is opened and fluid escapes the position control valve will compensate for this loss of fluid and open to bring the lift arms back to it's orignal position.

My JD dealer fix this problem at no charge, even tho the warranty had expired.

Same problem as yours. Only visable change after repair was a new valve and hose on my power beyond. They might have gone into the case also because they change the hydo fluid also.
