4300 4wd Front Wheel Swap - Turn Out R4\'s

Has anyone swapped there R4's wheels on the front to have them turned out?

The manual only states to use it for backhoe stabilization...

I like the extra stability while, about 5 hrs now with the wheels swapped, light duty work, tree logging, brush clearing etc... (430 loader attached)

Researching past few posts, everyone says that you shouldn't do this. I hope I haven't damaged anything?

Any thoughts? Experiences?

Last June Peter Hayden did the same thing with his <font color=orange>Kubota</font color=orange> B2910. I've had my wheels (all four) turned out since the 4300 was new. Not a problem that I can see, and one that is not discouraged in the owners manual (that I have seen). Cannot imagine why or how it could be a problem on the Deere.

Ron, was reading the same thread, thats what caught my attention and made me rethink what I just did!

I'm sure more will respond. I know for one thing, it sure made the p factor alot more bearable... I feel lots more comfortable now than before....

I've had a JD755, JD955, JD1070, and now a JD4700. The dealer turned all the front wheels for wider footprint. Never caused any problems. I wouldn't/couldn't use the tractor on my slopes without having them reversed.
I think the Deere website lists the front tires/wheels as "2-position" or something like that, meaning they can be turned out. The rears are 8-position.

I turned my out on my 4400 just after I bought it. No problems - better hillside stabilty.

I suspect that the problem has to do with exceeding the load spec on the axle. It would be pretty easy to find an aftermarket FEL with greater capacity than the OEM's, and greater than the axle's spec. It might be just fine (because most things are engineered to go beyond the rated spec. But trurning the wheels puts just enough more stress to the axle.

Of course, a good dealer should be able to make sure that everything "fits", and an aftermarket loader, properly fitted, should be as safe as the OEM unit.

I'm about 5 years late in replying to this but I can report that the reversed front wheels are working just fine. No smoke, explosions, or other problems.
