I got this (new to me) 430. Looks, sounds and feels like a solid machine. I notice when I pull lever back to lift deck, the lift seems to only be on the left side and in sympathy, the right side will lift, a LITTLE.

I don't yet have a manual that describes this so I just looked around at it. There is for lack of better word, a ring that comes down from above at the rear of the deck. One of these on each side. Looks like this is the connection that actually pulls the deck up.

I'm presuming (not taken anything apart yet) that there is a single cylinder in there that lifts one of those. Is the other one (right side) passive and gets pulled up behind the left side or are they both directly powered and I need to look into the right side lift?

I'm not in a terrible rush on this as I've got some other projects on my plate but I would like to get it working (lifting) properly.

Mind you, the four corners of the deck are adjusted the same way, I'm not talking about how the deck rides on the ground, I'm talking about how it hangs in the air. The left wheels are up in the air and the right wheels are either dragging on the ground or only a fraction off the ground (compared to the left side....the deck is hanging on a slope downward to the right)

Is this the 60" or 50" deck? The one hydraulic cylinder moves the rockshaft at the rear, two flat (one on each side of tractor frame) straps transfer movement from the rockshaft to pivot arms (one on each side of the tractor frame), There are two lift links that hang down and connect to the deck via lift arms mounted on the deck, which lift the deck.

1.) Check for the straps and movement of the pivot arms. Also look for extensive wear on straps (holes and elongated slots)
2.) Check the lift links, these maybe loops to clevis or the strap type depending on the deck size. (if you have straps look for wear on these too)
3.) Check the lift arms on the deck, check them for cracks, bent or broken.

IT's the 60" deck. It's not a problem....but it annoys me.

Once I get the larger tractor taken care of, I'll turn my gaze to this one. All I could see looking under there were the lift links. Looks like those lift the rear and through linkage, the front gets lifted.

Looking like I might need to take a body panel off to get easy access or can it be done with deck removed? (something I was going to do anyway to check blades & clean underside if needed)

All the parts are on the outside of the frame of the tractor. You should be able to see them with a flashlight and getting down on the ground. Just make sure that one of the arms isn't hookup up in reverse.
