42C mower deck

I replaced the cutting blades (2) drive belt on my JD 42C mower deck for my GT225 Lawn and Garden tractor. A large, black coil spring tensions the belt. The spring hooks onto the deck at one end and a swing arm which pivots a pully wheel outward at the other end. There are 2 holes on the arm and a notch at its outboard end which looks like where the spring should hook. I couldn't stretch the spring that far so used the next hole in. Where should the spring hook to the arm? The deck cuts well now, but I'm thinking the belt might start slipping once it stretches a little.

Just wondering, if your manual shows that?
Deere belts won't stretch so if it mows, sounds good to go.

Otherwise, fashion a hook and a handle to pull on that spring, or a board and make a lever to gain some mechanical advantage. Keep things secure so the spring doesn't take off toward Jones's.
