Tractor
Case 2090 Massey Ferguson 4233 John Deere 4700
I am going to look at the 4233 I was talking about a few weeks back tomorrow. I am always slow about pulling the trigger on anything. I know nothing about Massey tractors. I really like the looks of this tractor and my Dad has looked at it and drove it and was very impressed, this coming from a John Deere Man. What are some of the pros and cons of a 2001 4233 2wd with a cab? Any known weaknesses like hydralics, transmissions, etc. Any real strong points about them. What are the cabs like. Do they have a good heating and AC system? Are the cabs tight? Is there anything I should be checking tomorrow when I look at it? I live 3 hours away form it so I will probably only see it once.

I have a couple questions about the tractor after looking at it.
1. There was 2 levers for the 3ph. I couldn't get the 3ph to work unless I moved both of them. I figure I must be doing something wrong. Can someone explain how that works? There was one with a black knob and one with a yellow knob.
2. It had 12 speeds forward and 12 reverse with a shuttle shift on the column. Do you have to clutch it to go from forward to reverse or can you do it with out clutching like my power reverser on my Deere. I used the clutch today while driving it. The dealer knows nothing about them he said.
The tractor was real clean, no tears in the interior. The paint was a little faded but not bad. Tires were pretty decent. Ran real well. It was snowing and pretty cold out when I got there. It started very easy for as cold as it was. One concern is the tractor came from his brothers dealership in Arizona. Not sure if that is anything to worry about or not.

2 levers, one is draft control other position control. It needs to be in the position control spot for the position control lever to work. Draft control raises hitch under load.

Reverser - mech reverser is sync'd so you can shift while rolling but it needs the clutch. It is usually a round handle and right by the steering wheel.

Electronic reverser is orange handle with flats, clutch not needed. Same spot, left of steering wheel. Other models had a floor mounted sync reverser.
