4120 PTO 540 rpm Engine speed

Does anyone know the engine speed needed to get 540 RPM PTO speed on a JD4120 ?

The below information is from the owners manual. My suggestion would be look at the tachometer when the PTO marker on the tachometer indicates you have reached 540 RPM's on the PTO.


10. Adjust the hand throttle lever forward to the desired speed for implement used.

NOTE: The PTO marker on the tachometer indicates engine speed for a standard 540 PTO.

I have not used the PTO on mine much yet, but here's what I can tell you, I have the PowerReverser transmission & no mid PTO.
On my tachometer on instrument panel there is a PTO indicator with a "E" at 1750 RPM and another at 2350 RPM w/o the "E". I have run mine at 1750-1800 engine RPM on a light workload with no problems, I'm guessing the "E" is economy mode. If you have a heavy workload I think you would have to speed up to the 2350 engine RPM mark.
My manual also states, when you have rear PTO at 540 RPM that if engaged the mid-PTO speed will be 2100 RPM.

Thanks for the input i did find a picture of someone's 4X20 and it did show an Icon for PTO at about the 2300 RPM range. I originally thought this would be because of the eHydro but I found another picture on a reverser showing the same thing.
