4110 loss of oil pressure

Hello, I'm new to the forum, and want to ask a question on behalf of my grandfather. He owns a 4110, less than 1 year old, less than 200 hours. Recently the oil pressure has dropped so low that the oil light stays on at any speed less than 1600 rpm. The dealer says the light will come on at 5psi. Tractor is full of oil, all the simple stuff has been checked. It's been hauled back to the dealer today, and we're awaiting their diagnosis. He really likes this tractor, we both know several people who have bought Mahindras and like them well. But this has made him loose quite a bit of confidence in the machine. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, if so what was the cause? I am trying to figure out if this is a fluke, or is there a problem with this model. I'm pretty sure my dealer mentioned that some of the first 4110's had to have gauges replaced. The gauges weren't calibrated right or they couldn't recalibrate them and a number of them were replaced no charge to the customer.. Ask for Johnsonauto or go to their web site for the answer,,

I have a 4110 with about 800 hrs. Bought it new in June 2002. I work the tractor pretty hard. The only time the oil light comes on is right after I change the oil. It only stays on for about 5 seconds. The dealer should be able to put an oil pressure guage on it to get a true reading of the oil pressure and rule out a faulty oil pressure light. Good luck!

Thank you for the responses. I should have mentioned that the dealer did test with a mechanical oil pressure gauge, and found readings consistent with what the light was showing. I am glad that so far it seem that this is an isolated incident. The tractor is at the dealer now, we are waiting for news.

Here's the update- I have been told that one of the main bearings came apart, and the dealer is replacing the entire engine. Hopefully we will have the tractor back next week.

We have sold hundreds of 10 series tractors and this is the first time we have ever had to replace an engine. (Sorry it happened to such a great guy too!!) But your engine is on order and we will have it installed as soon as we receive it.

Steve, it sounds like you are the sevicing dealer for this problem. If so good job and good job Mahindra.

When I bought my 2615 in February I found a couple of used car/tractor dealers and a few like your, full service and customer orented. I bought from one of the full service dealers. If Mahindra cuts the used car dealers and keeps the full service dealers, well, it could only do the brand good.

I agree and have told them the same thing... and they realize this also. As us full service dealers continue to sell more and more, I have noticed the 'part time' dealers are getting fewer and fewer.

I've been off the forum for a while and am just now catching up. Thanks for your response, and also thank you for taking care of my grandfather's tractor. Now, if I can just come up with the $ for one of those nice Dixie Chopper ZTR mowers you guys have...... maybe some day!

Hey Chris and All, Update as of 10/7 - received the engine yesterday afternoon and will start installation today... shouldn't take too long since Mahindra sent a complete engine. And when I say complete.. I mean complete..even has the fan and belt on it !
We will call you as soon as it is ready.
