Tired of the plastic bowl and small filter arrangement on my 4110. Thinking about replacing it with something like a Racor assembly made for boat diesels.

Thoughts?? Other Ideas???? Another brand or type? I would really like a bigger filter surface.

While I'm at it, thinking about replacing the 13 year old fuel lines. Can you replace the lines without having to remove the tank??

If I do have to remove the tank, does the ROPS have to come off to get the metal plate off on the top of tank??? Looks like it does.

My old 40 mile away local dealer retired and sold out. New local dealer just down the road sells more motorcycles than tractors and is clueless about everything so I have nobody but you guys to ask!

Thanks in advance!

I got rid of my fuel bowl assy a few years ago and have just been using old style metal in-line fuel filters that I change once a year. I'm very careful about my fuel supply/cans etc. and haven't had any problems at all. The 5/16" works just great on the 8mm hose. I got tired of that $16 fuel bowl nut getting galded to the housing every time I wanted to change the filter element and that plastic bowl getting cloudy so you couldn't see anything in the bowl.

I removed my fuel tank many years ago to replace the sending unit and it was a lot more involved than I anticipated - you don't just remove that piece across the top and it lifts out. I can't remember exactly what I had to do but I used the shop manual I have as a guide and it was a tedious job. I'm still running my original lines too, over 18 years old. I should probably do mine one of these days too.

look at the racor mini filter with the clear bowl, it is smaller and uses 1/4" npt fittings vs 3/8" npt, much simpler to plumb in.
