Does anyone with a 4110 know what they paid for the 50 hour service materials? I've got 50 hours on mine and I need to go buy the service materials and I was just trying to brace myself for the cost.
On my 2210 I didn't buy any service manuals to do the 50 hr service, most everything I needed to know was in the operators manual. New trans filter, clean suction screen, new trans oil, new engine filter/oil, air cleaner, that was about it. I can't imagine the 4110 being that much different.
I upgraded to synthetic trans oil so my total cost was somewhere around $120, the trans filter was kind of pricey from Deere, too.
If your air cleaner is not dirty then you don't have to replace it at 50 hours. Do most dealers you guys go to replace them for the 50 hour service. Just curious.
I was wrong about the air filter - my 2210 manual does NOT list this as needing to be replaced at 50 hours - but I did a lot of dusty mowing last summer so I did inspect it and it looked fine.
My dad used to take his 345GT into the dealer each fall for annual service and they insisted on replacing the filter. I realize this is a much smaller element but he only mowed an acre or less and only put 200 hours on the tractor in 4 years so these filters were being replaced every 50 hours. After two years I started doing the service myself, I thought he was throwing money away. I did clean/reoil the external gauze each fall.........internal filter never did show signs of any dirt.
Ah, ok I just wondered if the dealers were insisting at 50 hours you put the new filter in yourself or have them do it. Both the primary and secondary filters can add up to a few bucks quickly.
If you keep a close eye on the secondary filter and keep it clean, the primary should be good for a very long time. I grew up driving a 4230 (100HP diesel) and we removed/cleaned the secondary filter on a regular basis especially when it was dusty. I can't recall ever replacing the primary filter, dirt never seemed to reach it.
My manual is a little vague - says to "check" the filters at 200 hours - but not real clear on when to replace.
When I did the 50 hour on my 4310 it seems to me that
I spent about $200. That included the 2 hydrostat trans filter
and the hydraulic filter, a new gasket ($3) for the suction screen and about 7 gallons of hydrostat oil. The engine
part of this was about $15 for the engine oil filter and 5 quarts of engine oil. You can check approximate prices on
You will have to setup an initial profile but after that you
can go look up about any part and most parts that are online
are priced. I find the deere parts web site very useful
for tracking down about anything that deere has to offer.
I too like the JD parts.com because then from home I can look at the part catalog, get the part number I need and order it then go to work and pick it up the next day. I think if more people used it would save them time as they would not have to wait for the parts guy to find their parts as they would be put on a shelf for the people coming in. JMHO.
Can't remember exactly, but with the standard transmission, mine was $50-$75. That included: an extra fuel filter (cold weather freezes don't cripple the tractor - just replace the filter) and a gallon of tranny oil. Dealer did NOT recommend changing the tranny at 50 hours, even though the manual does. (That may have been based in part on the fact I don't use mine real hard.)
