40hp or 46hp

I am stuck on making a choice between a LS XR4040HC or the LS XR4046HC exact same tractor but 6 hp difference and $1300.00 difference. Whats everyones thoughts?

Avoid turbochargers. Chronic problems as the years pass.

If one has Tier IV engine and the other Tier III engine, go for Tier III.

Those are both Tier 4. There's no turbo on the 40 or 46. There is on the 37.

Going 40 to 46 ... You're talking about a 15% increase in power for only a 5% increase in cost.

good point TSO I have been looking into this for what seems like forever. It seems like LS is the only one I can get into for under 30k with FEL and cab for that price

You can also look at TYM (T503) or Kioti (DK 40 or 45).

I think the extra 6hp is worth the extra price. Obviously, it depends on your intended uses, but the 30.8hp (PTO) for the 4640 is on the light side for a tractor that size, and the 35.4hp that the 4046 has will help you run implements a little easier.

I have never heard anybody complain about to much HP.

If the extra 1300 wont brake the bank? The extra HP would be my choice as its always better to have a little extra rather than be a little short when the work gets tuff.
