looking for my first time tractor (not counting that I grew up on a Farmall Cub as a kid. That was long ago and so little applies to my current needs as to make no difference.)

Anyway, the local Thrifty Nickel had a listing for a 1977 (hours unknown) 62hp diesel John Deere 401CD with front end loader and 1 yard bucket. It has new rear tires vg front ones, 3pt hitch, draw bar, PTO, & 8f/8r transmission. Comes with a nearly new 6' med duty brush hog. Asking is $9000.

I'm wondering if this is anything like a good value and more to the point, a suitable tractor for my needs. I understand it is an "industrial tractor." I am not sure what that means. Any input?

Be sure and check for good hyd operation when hyd oil gets to operating temp. Also check hyd reverser at the same time
