Hey gang,

Got approval from the CFO for a 4010 /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif. I haven't been to the dealer yet to do the negotiating. I am concerned about delivery time based on a couple of comments here regarding the 4010 and 110 TLB.

I need to sell my JD 316 (anybody interested) so that I can use that money towards a down payment. My plan is to sell the 316 with the buyer taking delivery near the time my 4010 will come in. I don't think I can get a good deal on a trade (I will try).

Is it reasonable for me to stipulate that if the factory/dealer misses the delivery date that they provide me with something to cut my lawn with? It doesn't have to be a CUT, could be a lawn tractor or commericial walk behind.

My other concern is ordering a tractor sight unseen. I want to place the order while the financing rates are still low (end of May according to Deere web site).

If I'm not happy with the 4010 when it comes in, should I be able to upgrade to the 4110? Anybody been in a similar situation?

For those interested, here's what I plan to order:

4010 (Hydro is STD)
R4 tires
410 Loader w/ 54" bucket
Ballast Box
60" MMM
Mulching kit
Folding ROPS
Rear Worklights

Thanks again for all the help/support

I ordered my 4110 in mid-March and it was delivered last friday, the dealer offered to let me use a mower if I needed it until my tractor came in. I still had my JD318 so that wasn't an issue (which is also for sale if anyone is interested). As for ordering a 4010 then trying to upgrade to a 4110 if you aren't pleased with the 4010, I don't think that most dealers are going to want to do that as most 4110's being delivered to the dealers right now are already sold. You may want to look at the difference between the 60" and the 54" MMM as there is an close to an $800 difference in pricing. The 54" is rated to cut 2 acres per hour and the 60" is rated for 2.125 acres per hour. That difference could help you get the 4110 right from the start. I was concerned with the lower hydraulic pump capacity of the 4010 (3.4 gpm, 1994 psi) compared to the 4110 & 4115 (5.1 gpm, 2420 psi for both). All using the 410 loader, I assume that loader performance would be affected. Also the 4010 is running at 3000 rpm's to achive hydraulic it's capacity and it's 18.5 hp (HST), while the 4110 & 4115 are running at 2650 rpm's to achive their hydraulic capacity and 4110 20 hp (gear) 21 hp (HST) and the 4115 at 24 hp (HST). Good luck in whatever you chose.
PS: I love my new 4110!

Mike,

Good suggestion regarding the deck size. I talked to one dealer today about the 4010, he has 6 on order, delivery in mid to end of june?

Do you know what the uncut diameter is on your setup? Ie if you do a donut, measure the circle left in the middle. I've got lots of trees to go around.

You had another post regarding price @$16,000, is that what you ended up paying? Was the $1,200 rebate in effect? My target price is 15% off list + rebate - $13,586 for the 4010 w/ 60" deck, $15,188 for the 4110 w/ 54" deck

Thanks

Mike,

Forgot to ask. How long does it take to cut your 2 acres? Do you have a lot of obstacles? I saw on the 60 vs. 54" discussion that the 54" was rated for 2 vs 2.125 acres per hour. Looking for a reality check.

Thanks again

Hazmat,
I've only mowed once with it so far, I have approximately 1 acre of lawn to mow and I have more obstacles than you could shake a stick at trees, rocks, more rocks and so on It took me about 3/4 of an hour. I haven't measured the uncut circle yet, but it turns sharper than my JD318 did.
I got the following equipment for $17,500 including delivery (rebate included).

4110 4x4 hydrostatic
410 loader with 53" bucket
JD Quik-tach forks
hood guard
level indicator
ballast box
54" MMM
deck height latch kit
54" front blade w/angle
folding ROPS

Pricing is higher here in NE than other parts of the country.

Hazmat, you should consider the 54" deck instead of the 60". Since you can't calculate the exact time it will take you to mow your yard due to different driving patterns. Some people don't even use the full width of the deck when redoubling. And besides, you always end up stopping to chat with the neighboor or to remove dog toys from the lawn. To sum up, 0.125 hour wouldn't justify an extra 800$ for 6 more inches of mowing deck. But its your call. Either way you end up mowing the lawn.

If the deck size thing is really important, I read in my JD literature that the 4115 is rated to run a 72" mid-mower.

Mike,

Looks like you did a little better than 10% off plus the rebates. I found on the web that the Mass. state contract price for JD is 26% off! I don't think they are eligible for the rebate. I don't expect to get that, but it does give you an idea what the profit margin is. Factory is probably giving some kind of concession, as well as the dealer.

The 4115 is too much money. The 72" deck would be sweet.

I'll be calling around today & visiting the local dealer tonight. I'm getting the impression that I should go with the 4110. An easy choice for me, but I'll have some explaining to do to the CFO. Hopefully the dealer can give me some additional ammunition. It is in his best interest
