Well, I was driving home the other day and I saw something green up ahead. Yep, it was one of them Deere's. Funny thing was, the way it was being transported. It was a John Deere 4010 and it was in the back of a full size pickup. It just barely fit and I am certain that they had to drive the front tires up and over the wheel tub protrusions in the box. They must have driven it in off a loading dock because I think the use of any type of ramps would have been too much pressure on the rear end of the truck. I guess I'm surprised, I did'nt think you could fit anything larger than a garden tractor in the back of a pickup.

(It was a regular box Chevy 2500 series and the tail gate was closed)

Later on, I'm gonna try to wedge my TC30 into the back of my mini-van. You never know till you try /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't laugh I had thought of the same thing. If I didn't have a trailer my 790 would go right on my F350 dually. Without the FEL it would fit fine and at only 2100lbs I would still be legal by a long stretch. I am not sure if I would need to remove the 3 pt arms to close the tailgate but that is an option if I wanted it closed. With some good tie-downs I don't think it would be unsafe. No more so than all these guys with big Harleys in the bed. Of course I would take off the tailgate when rolling it on to avoid the weight POSSIBLY bending the gate. Only other issue is the wheel wells as you said.

I once saw a post on the Ford Diesel site where one of the mebers put a HEAVY skid steer in the bed and crushed his dually wheel wells. His answer was he needed to go do a construction job and it was worth it to him????

I have carried 1-2 yards of material that weighs alot more than our tractors. Even the 3-4 yards of wood chips I have mounded probably weighs more.

Your TC30 could go on as well /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Actually your rear tires might not clear unless you could turn them around to narrow them. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I use to haul a Mitsubishi Beaver III with a King Kutter 36" rotary cutter in the back of a Dodge Ram D-50 (one of those small pickups smaller than an S-10)back in the early 1980's.

Remember the pictures of the TLB climbing into the rail car? I'd think the same method coule be employed to get a Deere into a pickup bed (YOUR pickup bed, that is). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just be sure you take the tailgate off for loading and unloading. I'm not sure those two little cables can hold either axle rolling across the tailgate. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Garry, recently, I wedged a 125 cc dirtbike into the back of my minivan. It took three of us to compress the shocks and roll it in. Once inside, we ratchet strapped it to the mounting points for the seats (the seats were removed). Was equally challenging getting it out.

I've done worse..

A couple of years ago before I bought the truck we only had a new Chevy Mark III hi-top conversion van and an economy car. I use to take our horse trailer to go get hay. We had several bad snow storms and the trailer was frozen into the ground. I could not get the 2 wheel drive van anywhere near it. My choices were very limited as we had just moved here and really new very few people. I took all the seats out of the fully carpeted, mahogny wood trimmed, electric sofabed, TV/VCR equipped van and went for hay. The farmer thought I was nuts when I proceeded to put 20 bales of hay IN the van. I said "well it's either that or my horses starve" and off I went.

We were picking hay out of the carpeting on the floor, ceilings, walls, sofabed, etc for months but we eventually got it all clean with no damage.

My wife actually never objected but I think she was in shock when she first saw the van full of hay. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That's a mess /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I put four bales of straw in the back of my mini van a few years ago. I'm still pick'n out straw.

Jerry, just put a goat in the back of your mini van during your next road trip. The straw will be gone!! Of course, so will the seats, the door handles, most of the carpet...
