New Holland Boomer 40 Cab
New to the forum but used it extensively and thought I would share my tractor shopping experience. Was looking to replace my 1997 John Deere 1070 that I bought new in 1997 with a newer cab tractor. Models I compared closely with advice from this forum were John Deere 3039R, Mahindra 2538, New Holland Boomer 40, and the LS equivalent. Here are my observations...
John Deere seemed much smaller than my 1070 when comparing them side by side, must-haves on my list like rear wiper and rear hydraulics were optional and quite expensive to add.
Mahindra 2538 was the beefiest built tractor with the largest front tires, no DPF, and the heaviest loader and best rated 3-point capacity but still no rear hydraulics. Seals and gaskets not covered after 24 month full warranty.
New Holland Boomer 40 Cab included two rear outlets for $340 for the second one, rear wiper standard, best visibility of bucket from cab but the lowest loader capacity due to angle of the boom arms (which made the visibility possible) Most straightforward warranty coverage which includes seals and gaskets for the entire six years. Cruise control for the HST and mid-pto was standard and dealer has been in business since 1954.
LS Tractor compared favorably but no mid-pto, dealer has carried for about 5 years and questions about seals and gasket coverage were sketchy after 24 months.
I did end up purchasing the New Holland Boomer 40 cab and take delivery in a week or two. I'll update from time to time how it's working out. From a pricing standpoint in order to get a tractor for Deere that looked as beefy as the others it was the 4026R model and adding the options I wanted that tractor was $8000 more than the other three. Mahindra was the best value money-wise for features vs cost. LS and New Holland were virtually the same when the mid-pto was added to the LS.
I hope this helps someone else that's comparing similar tractors, I found the advice on this form very helpful and thought I would share.

I don't think you can go wrong with a New Holland. I bet it'll be a good tractor for you for many years. My dad has 3, and they have been very reliable. Post up some pics when you get it home.

Got the new tractor home this weekend. Super comfortable to operate, very quiet and comfortable inside cab. As we guessed when we picked this tractor it's pretty tippy with a load in bucket and no weight on back. Installing my heavy duty 7 ft rear blade helped some but I'm planning to ballast tires before attempting to lift a round bale. It's overall a very pleasant purchase from a good dealer, wish the bucket was closer to the tractor so it was better balanced with a load in bucket. Thanks again to everyone for all the advice, hope this one is as solid of a machine as my Yanmar built 1070 was...it was bulletproof.

What features did LS add to the NH when they made it.
Two years ago when I was shopping for a 70hp tractor, one dealer had a NH, a LS and a TYM setting on the same lot. The only difference I could see was the engine, numbers of gears and cab. You could pull a number of parts from one and put on any of the other two.

Based on my experience the major difference in the New Holland was the mid-pto was standard. New Holland loader extends further out from the front tires lowering capacity but increasing visibility. Same dealer had Farmall model that was a twin except for color. Incentives were better on the NH right now. Main reason I picked NH model was established dealer and no question powertrain warranty that specifically included seals and gaskets in print.

Not many people are concerned about lifting round bales....AND having a mid PTO.

At least not on the same tractor

Main reason the mid-pto was a want was in case I ever added a front-mounted snowblower. May never use the pto but it was nice to have. We have a 55hp larger framed tractor for handling the bales regularly but if it was down and we needed to feed in a pinch want it to be able to. Trust me I would never drive and turn in a field with a large bale on this tractor...but my old JD 1070 handled them way better with a heavy back blade on and no ballast. Newer stuff is just not as heavy duty as the old stuff...but much easier to run and operate.

This has always been a negative in my opinion on some tractors including the New Holland. Kubota does the same thing with some of theirs...along with ridiculously tiny front wheels. There is a definite disadvantage to having the bucket extend so far from the front wheels. But just add a bunch of rear ballast and enjoy the new tractor!

The LS XR4140 HC or C has a mid PTO available. A front mount Snowblower or sweeper would be the only uses officially. And typically include the Mid PTO kit.

The 6 Year LS warranty covers any part of the power train. LS Makes the boomer 40 series. Warranty is the same. LS Provides the warranty. Be careful and make sure they gave you the right warranty docs for your tractor.

the LS tractors have the new tier 4 motor made by LS which is a lot better then the Shibora(I think thats the name) motors which are still used in the new holland.
LS used them for a year or two. I have constant issues with them. Mostly due to user error and poor training. Just make sure you throttle the tractor up when it starts to regen. Otherwise is will not clean out and eventually you will end up in limp mode. Even though the light goes out your soot level may have only dropped to 70% if your at an idle or constantly lugging the engine while its regening. You should be at least at PTO speed.

TYM is a totaly different tractor. Besides the Mitsubishi engine nothing is the same.

Round Bales and Snowblower not used on the same tractor? You must be from the south ;)
