I didn't sleep at a Holiday In last nigth but.

One ting to remember is these ladders aren't designed to be over hung.
support in the middle is OK for an load below support but if the upper end is unsupported it will bend.

Years ago at fire rescue school we used fire ladders to rig some pretty impressive cranes and gantry's these ladders were a lot heavier than "homeowners" ladders
For crew practice a week later we were trying what we learned in school and didn't want to take ladder off truck and got a ladder out of basement (it looked just like ACHINBAC's) and proceeded to rig it up.
It folded like a pretzel when we put the load on it all our jaws just about hit the floor when it failed and it was worse explaing the damage it to the Chief.
We did same exercise the next week with a ladder off the engine and it didn't even bow.

By the way, as tommu points out, there is a bit of real world experience that goes in to such a build - it can be a long way down . . . as his experience points out.

It's not something you whip together on a whim, or a weekend.

I ducked taped my extention ladder to my forks for metal roof installation. added working heighth to my ladder and very easy to move. used lots of duck tape. no one is gonna suggest that you use your fel as a working platform for safety reasons but many of use our fel like this anyway
