I can't get my 4 wheel drive to engage on my L3710. The lever used to be difficult to put in and out of gear. Now there isn't any pressure moving it either way. It doesn't just flop around it stays up or down where ever you put it, but it just won't engage. Any ideas?

With any luck, it's external to the transmission... just something in the linkage... easy to diagnose and fix. If needed, clean up the underside enough so you can see what's going on under there, get out the creeper and a flashlight and have a look. Make sure the keys are in your pocket and the brakes are set, of course!

Did it work before when moving the lever? There has not been any problems with them! It must be a simple problem.

On these models the front drive shaft is partly internal to the transmission. There's a forward section with an outer cover that can be slid back to expose the couplings. Start there to see what's connected and turning when the front wheels turn.

Have you looked under the tractor at what the lever actually moves?
