3rd SCV for 2320/2520?

I am heading for the purchase of a 2320 this summer. One feature I'd like to have is the ability to a grapple at some point. I have researched many threads on TBN regarding options for adding operability for the grapple.

John Deere literature "Compact Tractor Implements and Accessories", indicates that a 3rd SCV is available for the 2320/2520 (Catalog # LVB24871), with footnote "available winter 2006/2007. Local dealer indicates this is not available.

Does anyone have insight on this?

Have not heard about the 3RD scv you listed, but it would be great. I currently use an open center control valve connected to the power beyond connections to control my grapple bucket.

How does this work . i have power beyond on my 2520 for the backhoe.

How does this work . i have power beyond on my 2520 for the backhoe.

I ran two hoses with couplers from the power beyond ports over to the pressure and tank ports of the open center valve. When not in use the oil flows unrestricted though the valve just like if the power beyond hose was looped back on itself.

I then ran two hoses from the "A" and "B" (working ports) of the valve down between the right fender and SCV valve and ended them at the coupler fittings were the normal loader hydraulics connect to. I have couplers on these hose ends, so instead of four hoses when I connect/disconnect the loader, I have six.

No switch, I used a manual valve that is connected to the power beyond loop. I clamped this to the ROPS on left side that I control with my left hand. Totally separate control from the SCV so I did not need a switch. (functions as a third SCV would). Allows me to perform loader and/or grapple functions at same time.

Update:
The local dealer called Deere today, and confirmed that a 3rd SCV will become an available option for the 2320/2520. Likely timing in the next month or so. No other information is available a this time. I'll report back when I learn more.

So if JD is comeing out with a 3rd SCV for the 2520. would it be better to wait on this ? instead of useing the foss diverter valve....
i know with diverter i hear you haft to loose one of you functions while operating the grapple. so with 3rd SCV , will you get to keep all your functions and still be able to operate the grapple?....

Thanks kenny. but i would haft to locate the valve in a different place.
as my backhoe seat and my 250 pound frame just fit between the ropes.
looks like my power beyond is mounted to the frame under where the backhoe seat is. but there is not enough room to put the big diverter valve.
i guess like everything. it would just take some thought...

Here is my take on this:
If you are just going to use the new circuit for a grapple, or for a FEL mounted snowplow, then there is no fear of "loosing one of your functions", as it only take seconds to open/close a grapple or angle a plow. Add to that the fact that with the hydraulic flow of our CUT's, you are not realistically going to do a bunch of operations at once anyway.
AND, if you use the 3rd SCV to operate the grapple or plow, you will have to take your hand off the joystick anyway to reach the 3rd SCV control.

Here is what I recommend:
Lets wait and see what the JD SCV kit looks like, and what it cost's before we go any further...

Oh, and by the way, I added a diverter to my FEL to operate a FEL plow that I had, so I am very familiar with hoe this all works. You can view that post HERE

Hi,

Does anyone have the 3rd SCV (LVB24871) installed on a 2520? If so could you post a picture of where it is installed, or describe where it is installed. I am thinking of getting it to control a Top-Link and/or my mower deck.

Will see if i posted pics correctly. Not the best pic but appears that the valve itself sits just to the right of the operator near the rops. Should put the lever close to the three point control. Also need a power beyond to utilize this kit so can not utilize power beyond powered att at the same time as needing the third scv.
