NX4510H with backhoe and FEL
My tractor knowledge is limited so bear with me. I'll be picking up a NX4510H next month and most likely will buy a grapple for it in 2019. Visited the dealer yesterday and they told me this would require the 3rd function kit at a cost of roughly $1,000.
Fair price? Are there difference brands to consider? Should I spring for this now and wait till next year? My gut tells me to have it added now and be done with it but would like some more experienced opinions.

$1,000 is what I payed for mine installed so your dealer is in the ball park. It seemed like a huge amount of money at the time but was worth it when it came time to put it to work.

That's probably the normal installed price at a dealer for pretty much all tractor brands. I think Kioti is/has released their own kit, but no feedback is out there yet.
Kioti, Mahindra and many other dealers have been using this custom 3rd function kit by WR Long for years.
It is a complete kit with instructions and it is available for a HUGE variety of tractor makes and models.
With almost TWO HUNDRED customer reviews, you can buy with confidence.

We offer the custom kit for $837 and we're currently offering a $50 off coupon code if you order with a Wicked Grapple! Free ground shipping to your home within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC.

How much of the dealers shop time is required to install your kit? What type of warranty do you offer on it?

From customers who have installed, I've heard from 45 min to 2 hours and from 2 beers to a 6 pack. It's a quite simple install.
WR Long warranties the valve for a year and hoses/electrical components for 90 days.
It's truly the most used and recommended aftermarket kit on the market. Has been for years.

Here is a video by one of our customers. He has a Kubota, but the concept is the same.

$1000 is a fair price to have this item supplied and installed at time of tractor purchase. It seems to be the going price range for most dealers.

Yes you can shop it to death and save a few dollars if you want to install it yourself.

Just be sure of what you're getting for $1000. Are they furnishing a true 3rd function kit like the WR Long or are they installing a diverter valve on the bucket curl function? I found the diverter valves are less expensive. The difference is a diverter valve uses one button you press and hold to activate it while using the bucket curl function to move the hydraulics. A 3rd function has a rocker switch you press and that's it, no loader valve motion required. The 3rd function gives you flow as on or off only whereas a diverter valve can be "feathered" just like curling the bucket. A lot comes down to personal preference which one to pick. 3rd functions dealer installed in my area are in the $1600 range and diverter valves are about $1000.

Don't forget about the Michigan Iron & Equipment kits too.

Think I will pick the dealers mind with a few more questions to make sure it is the correct system.
Just no sense going aftermarket if I have to end up paying the same price. If the dealer supplies the part and installs it they provide the warranty.

I had the local Kubota dealer install a WR Long 3rd function along with the Land Pride SGC1560 grapple. The 3rd function kit + install - $1195. This was in 2014.
