3rd function install

Couple of pics from a W R Long 3rd function valve on a XR4155. Bent the bracket a small bit and reversed the valve so it would tuck up behind the step out of the way. Was thinking about having hard lines made to replace the 2 hoses from the loader valve to the 3rd function valve. One line would only need to be about 8 because the valve mounts next to the loader valve. Pros/Cons/ideas/suggestions?

2.5 hrs later to include 1 trip for parts and she’s on. No leaks and works great. The kit included one adapter that was too small and I ended up purchasing 2 90 degree swivel connectors to make the connections easier to get to. Modifications to the kit should include the 90 degree swivels. I would love to install hard lines from the valve to the distribution boxes, but the budget does not include those yet. Easy installation.

Installed one on mine about a week ago, and I like the product but the little connector that controls the valves is just waiting for something to happen to it. I used some RTV over the connector once installed to help keep moisture out. The 12V lead does not have much protection either but I got it tucked in as far as possible.

I’ll have to look when I get back to the house. The kit was complete and easy to install. I finally got the hoses routed up out of the way under the tractor. Hard lines would look better and be protected a little better, but we’re going to be expensive ($180 per line!). I figured I would take some time during the summer and try and bend my own. Or at least try and make a “hybrid” line consisting of a partial hard line with a hose attachment......

Heat Shrink Wrap??

No place for heat shrink. It looks about like a phone cord plug but half the size, so its small. It plugs into the side of the valve and wires just hang out. Bad design with no strain relief, and no protection. Note the little white end on the connector

I just took delivery of a new XU6168. I ordered it with the LS 3rd function kit. I haven't tried it out yet as I am waiting on my grapple. It seems like a good install - the kit comes with hard lines and the bracket for the hydraulic fittings bolts onto the cover plate. The cover plate is even pre-drilled for the bracket. Looking forward to trying it out.

I do like the hard lines, and when asking the dealer, he went straight to WR long, but really wish I would have asked about factory kit
