Hello everyone,

I was looking for a Landpride 3pt spreader the other day and one of the dealers I talked to gave me a brochure for a Sitrex spreader made in Italy. I have done a little digging and it looks to me like the Sitrex spreader is exactly the same as the Landpride spreader. At first I wasn't interested because I wasn't familiar with the name but if Landpride is buying their spreaders from Sitrex I think I may buy one since the price is about $100 less than the Landpride.

Any thoughts?

I'd say it depends on what you're planning on spreading. The Italians make first class equipment. Either would probably work fine with fertilizer or seed. Lime will be a hassle. Lime will sometimes bridge and stop flowing with a conical hopper design.

Kevin,I just ordered a Landpride FS500 today. You are right when you say they all (brands) look alike.I also think the bulk of these spreaders are all made by one company and painted many different colors.

Those two spreaders are probably very close in the way they are made. Most spreaders just have one basic design. There are some with more frills, but if you're wanting to broadcast a product, I'd go with whichever one is cheaper.

I brought a spreader from Fleet Farm 5 yrs ago for $300 that looks the same, even that crooked stirrer with the wheel on it. The only difference are the controls are on the right side. The gear box has a grease zerk on it to fill it with gun grease instead of gear grease.
One serious problem I had was running the PTO without having the little doors open that allow fertilizer to flow out. The fertilizer got hot and solidified, tearing up the flush tab stirrer at the bottom. I had to hand broadcast ~600 lbs of fertilizer and break up the neo-lithic formation with a sledge hammer that formed in the bottom. That crookedy central stirrer with the wheel survived. I spent $55 with my local welder repairing it since I couldn't find parts
