I have a landpride blower for my bx.. Rear mounted.

It's got those nice feet on the side that allow you to glide over surfaces like gravel, etc. Or you can drop it down to scrape hard surfaces.

It's sort of a pain to do this so I'm wondering if there is any sort of quick accessory for something like these? The adjuster bolts do have square heads so a quick/lynch pin I don't think will work.

Just curious if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

Hello and good morning legbuh,

SO, what your saying about the bolts is that they used square nuts and not the normal hex nuts for these carriage bolts????? if so that is a really poor way to do things as you need a 16 point socket to loosen them to change the skid height or a knuckle buster crescent wrench to loosen the nuts.

If the skids are low just leave them so you have a bed of frozen snow to work with once the weather really gets cold or just have snow to walk on with shoes that have tread or boots with deep tread lugs.

I am assuming that the OP means its using carriage bolts (smooth round head, square neck). This is the case with my Kubota blower. The skids on mine have a few positions to choose from but they are 'fixed' positions with square holes that the carriage bolts sit in. This is different from the typical slotted shoes that you see on a stand-alone snow blower, where you can slide it to any height and tighten the bolts. I think the risk with slotted type is the weight and the fact that you can pick the blower up off the ground and drop it down again. If you have slotted type you are going to end up constantly re-adjusting and tightening it because they will work their way up.

So I think what the OP is asking is if there is such an animal as a square hitch pin that he can put in there. I am not sure but I will look.

I didn't find anything in a quick search. But... Legbuh if you buy a few spare carriage bolts to experiment with ... I suspect you could drill a hole through the threaded part and then just put a cotter pin in there.

I just bought a 3 pt. WoodMaxx blower that has adjustable shoes. I have a gravel driveway and dropped the shoes down 1". I've only used the blower twice so far but I'm guessing that if you want to get a cleaner cut (even when the shoes are dropped down), you can lengthen your top link to drop the cutting edge a little. Again, just a guess since I'm figuring this out too. So far I've had to keep it raised because the ground isn't frozen yet.

Don't do that, you w.ill be eating dirt and rocks. You want to leave snowpack if you do not have paved areas.

Yeah, I imagine if you tilt the cutting edge too much you'll pick up lots of rocks and dirt. OP didn't say if his driveway was gravel or paved - maybe looking for a quick adjustment to do both?

Yes, I'm looking for a way to do both. I do about 4 normal concrete/asphalt driveways and one really long gravel one.

I thought about adjusting the shoes so they're allowing to scrape, then drilling a hole in each and using the same type of float adjusters used on ATV plows where you can easily adjust the height. The ones that look like a steel dish on a rod that you just add washers/spacers to adjust height.

Sorry for late reply, I never got any notifications for responses.

I went and looked in my ATV parts and low and behold, an extra set of em. Cool! I'll give it a try.

Since I had an extra set of skids for an ATV plow, I did this:

We will see the next snow how it works. Should be a simple task of moving the appropriate spacers to the bottom. Right now the skids that were oringally there are at their highest position. The ATV skids have about 3/4" of play in them now so the scraping edge will be fully engaged.

I'll report back how it works.
