Just got one from Harbor Freight. Seems to be made well enough, albeit a little rough in finish.
Are you supposed to use both bolts to attach the top hook?
When I use both , I can not get the pin on my Land Pride blade to travel to the bottom of the quick hitches' hook. This is due to the sloped cowling surrounding the top pin. When I use one bolt , the hook can pivot to fit the angle of the cowling.

Yes, one bolt alone will almost certainly shear. I ended up with three different types of floating toplink brackets before all my implements would marry up to the top of the QH. Some were a direct fit to the hook, some required the hook be removed in favor of either (a) the floating bracket that came with the QH, (b) a U-type from LandPride, (c) parallel bars from LandPride

I got a HF quick hitch for Christmas too. (See Santa brought some new tools thread in attachments) It fit the tractor fine but would not fit the implements. I have included some pics that show the mods I had to make. It was easier to modify the quick hitch than to modify all the implements. The bottom quick mounts were not spaced far enough apart and the top hook would not go into the implements such as BB, rake, snowblower, homemade trailer hitch etc. My rotary mower u-type top link bracket will work OK.

Pic 8 Last one is complete assy.
That's all I could do today since I need to get more steel to make additional top link adapters and make some spacers for the top hook and top link arm.

George,
Great looking welds there. I have to make mine so it can adjust from one width to another, having different category implements. So I'm going to make that sleeve adjustable instead of welding. I plan on using it on the front fel for moving implements around, not on the rear 3pt.

Rob,
Good idea since you have different catagory implements. I thought of doing that but after measuring my implements I was able to come up with one permanent width which is why I welded mine. I also figured its supposed to be a quick hitch so if I had to take time to pull pins and adjust the hitch width for each implement, it would be quicker to just hook to the 3 pt. I didn't mind doing that anyway but since the wife bought it I might as well use it.

My LandPride landscape rake has two upper holes and the lower is intended to be used with a quick hitch. Just use a bolt and a 1 to 2 upper link bushing. I have ordered a LP blade and it is supposed to be the same, I supposed that you could drill a hole if yours does not have a second hole. If you need to do this PM me and I will measure the spacing.

Nice job George. Did you consider moving the plates for the top hook back to the width the were or are you not going to use the top hook.

I experienced the same problem and also removed one bolt to pivot the hook. The hook doesn't fit a number of my attachments either, so I ordered the hitch adapter fork and manually attach the implements at the top. A bit of a pain, but it beats screwing around with the hook every time I need to change an implement.

The adapter is item #29309 for $8.76 from HF and sort of looks like the letter "Y" or better yet, a "U" with a leg :D. The item is not on their web-site but the phone staff can call it up for you to order it.

Yup, that's the one I mentioned earlier. There's a depiction of it here: Chinese Tractor Owners Association - Photo Album

Hooked,
I'm not going to move the plates back for the top hook. I've already made spacers to keep the hook centered and use pins for quick height adjustment when needed.
