Looking to purchase a 3pt log splitter, however it does not come with any of the hoses to run the cylinder. I have rear remotes I installed several years ago and work well for when I use a HD-8 Post driver. I no longer have the driver to reference size hoses. My assumption is they are probably 3/4 or 7/8 but not sure. I'm sure I'll figure this out once it is home and I get some measurements but curious if anyone has some exposure with this? I ran through the search tool on this site and I didn't find too much help from the Hydraulics section or Kioti- Owning and operating.. however a ton of comments from the peanut gallery on everything in between.

Kioti CK25 Pump is 12.6GPM

here is one of the model's I'm looking at.
CountyLine® 3-Point Hitch Log Splitter - Tractor Supply Co.

I also have access to a gas powered splitter but for my setup this will work better

Thanks,

I've read here that those legs on the splitter are a joke - basically only good for storage off-tractor.

My friend is unhappy with the speed of his (Northern Ind) splitter on his Kubota L3010, but I think it's because he doesn't have enough GPM. My gas splitter is 11 GPM and fast enough for me, so you should be OK with 12.6 GPM. My gas splitter uses standard 3/4 hoses. Got replacement from TSC. What does the QD you have on the rear remote use? Won't that matter?

Yup, I've heard the same thing that the legs could be beefed up some.. I'm not too overall concerned with this,, it is good to know prior to purchase but if becomes a problem I'll weld in a brace.

Looks like the L3010 has 7 GPM hydraulic pump and the manual on that country line splitter above says a minimum of 6 so I guess it's not a surprise it may run slow?.. I would expect the ram to move about as fast as my loader moves based on RPM I'm running at any given time. Once you bump it a little above idle, if this is any indication...... it should move fast enough for me.

TractorData.com Kubota L3010 tractor information

One of the reviews on the TSC site indicates a CK30 user split 5 cords of wood with it and was happy. The CK30 and CK25 - hydraulic pump 12.6 for my model year back in 2005 were the same. I'm hoping with this positive review that he was happy with the speed of the splitter. As you read the quote below 5 cords if a fair amount to split and if there's a "kink in the chain" with that amount of use I figured if speed was an issue he may have mentioned it. - Either way I'll report back something as I'm not finding too much data or videos for these in action.

" I use this splitter on my CK 30 Kioti tractor. After going through about 5 cords of some pretty tough wood this splitter has not even thought of slowing down on even the toughest logs. The legs on the other hand are not good. I would recommend this product with the warning that the legs are not adequate and they need to be reinforced. Only 4 stars because of the legs."

I want to say the rear remotes are 1". I'm at work and won't be able to tell till later today.

thanks,

I believe the hoses are 1/2" ID with 3/4" thread ends. That's what is on my KB2375 bh. That should pass the 12+gpm flow of the pump.

Definitely looks like a great alternative and got me thinking that this would be better... only downside after reading the reviews and specs it says not to exceed a 11GPM flow. I have 12.6 on mine, some guy wrote in he had 13GPM and is it recommended and they said no... ugh... otherwise looks like a good option for the same price.

Videos of the new log splitter - during the trial run limited safety gear was used - we split 2 logs just to make sure hoses didn't leak. - I ended up going with 1/2 hoses since the pioneer quick disconnects were 1/2". I almost went with 3/4" hose but they lacked the fittings to reduce the threads at the hose ends. - Seems to run pretty good at 1800- 2000 RPM - really no noticeable difference if I were to hold it up higher "540 PTO".

Anyway hopefully this thread helps someone out trying to figure out speed of ram vs gpm on tractor. Lastly there is a chart on the splitter that outlines this. I'll snap a photo and upload it to this thread later.

Your tractor does list 12.6 GPM pump flow but that is the combined flow of the steering pump + the loader/rear remote/3 pt. pump. Actual flow at the rear remotes is 7.94 GPM @ 2600 RPM. 3/8" hose would handle this without any pressure lose due to restriction, but the remote couplers and the valve on splitter I looked at @ TSC has 1/2" NPT fittings, so just use 1/2" hose with NPT fittings.
I'm seriously considering that same splitter. I know it will work slower than a stand alone type, or could add a PTO pump to it, but I'm not in any hurry. Just tot dang old and tired to be swinging a mall for what little wood I do burn.

You should run what ever size the valve ports are, plus go up one size on the QD's to the splitter.

It is also recommended that the log splitter return hose go directly into the tank/filler opening.

Does your remote valve have detents, or will you bungee the lever.
