Hello,

I have a 1500d with a 3pt hitch. I have noticed a couple of things.

1. the hitch will not stay raised? I can raise the hitch to the top with no problems but after a while it will lower itself back down? Is there something I can check.

2. the other question is should the hitch lower quickly or slowly with nothing attached? When I move the arm into the down position the hitch just crawls to the low position.

Thanks,

Jeff

Question 1 Does it leak down while the tractor is running or when the tractor is off? You can expect a little leakage if the tractor is not running however if it is leaking while the tractor is running you probably have a bad O ring in the hydralic pump.

Question 2 There is a valve that controls the rate of drop and its lever is on the right side facing forward just under the seat. Looks like small stick. Counter clockwise the faster the drop.

I have a 1500d also and played with the lift for a while till I understood how it worked. When I shut the engine down the 3pt will drop overnite, but a Ford and Bolens i have do the same, so not to worry.

The "rate" lever, I call it, is on the left side on mine and is under the seat. It's small, only maybe a inch long and does have a big affect on the speed at which the arms drop.

Pump plays no part in keeping the 3 point raised. That is a function of the spool valve. If the three point bleeds down then it is not a pump problem. If the 3 point is sluggish to lift unless it is under heavy throttle then it could possibly be the pump.

Professor is right we need to know how fast it is bleeding down. Does it take 30 min or 30 sec.

OK so I checked everything that I could see.

1. no leaks of fluid anywhere
2. tried adjusting the little leaver on the left - made no difference.

I ran the tractor for a while and the arms do not drop very fast. In fact when I try to put the arms down they do not lower at all!?!

If I shut the tractor off - the arms drop to the bottom in about 3 seconds.

Is there an adjustment screw for pressure that I should adjust/check? or is there a bigger problem on the 3pt hitch?

Thanks,

Jeff

This is an adjustment problem in your 3 point linkage relative to your 3 point spool. Your pump is fine so that is off your shoulders. Please call me we can go through it. To type out how to fix it would take me a month of Sundays.
