Hi all, brand new to tractors and this forum! Been reading past posts for a week and have to say I've learned tons already! Thanks!

My question here is that when I bought my B7100, there was a short length of chain bolted to one of the 3pt lower arms, but not attached to anything else. I removed the chain but am hanging on to it until I find out if it had some use?

Also, there seems to be some sort of sleeve covering the rear pto shaft, is this supposed to be there? I'm thinking the rear pto may never have been used and this is just a protective cover that was never removed.

Looking forward to much info gathering here, thanks for havin' me!
Jim

WELCOME! The chain may have hooked to the other 3ph arm to keep them together at the proper distance when something is attached. The cover is usually rubber or plastic and it just covers the pto spline. It just pulls off and snaps back on.

The chain is used to limit how far the three point arms will lower. It hooks in a slot just below where the three point top link fastens to the tractor.

Hey, that makes sense! I'll look for that link/slot next time I'm out.

Thanks,
Jim

I checked my tractor again. The hook is ABOVE where the third link fastens to the tractor. Actually it is a piece of steel with a slot that the chain slips in to.
