3pt \"expansion\" pins?

I'm not sure what terminology I should be using to describe the pins that allow the 3pt arms to contract/expand (move closer to or away from the rear tires).

Anyway, I'm wondering if there's a aftermarket pin with a spring loaded ball detent or something like that that could be used so I didn't have to always pull the cotter pins out of them everytime I attached/removed something from my 3pt. The pins are so small that sometimes I have a heck of a time grabbing ahold of them. (especially if I have grease on my fingers)

Hopefully this makes sense. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Regards,
Dave

I also want to know!

I think I remember someone mentioning that they had found this exact animal...and was using them on their B2910. I want to think ron was part of his screen name...

Does not help much I know...but there is hope! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

not my post, but one that I have been watching.... is this what you are thinking of????? It is about 10 or 12 pages, so skip the text and scroll down to the second & third picture attachment and see if this is what you need/want???? The first attachment is a line drawing from the parts book... Junkman

previous posting about this subject......

Re: 3pt \"expansion\" pins?

I bought 3/8 inch "ball spring loaded pins" (I'm sure that's not the right terminology) at my local hardware store. They have a key chain like round keeper at the top and the "detent ball" for the bottom. They've worked fine for me, but I've not been in places where debris could pull them out. They were <$1 each, so I bought several extra.

Hope this helps.

Re: 3pt \"expansion\" pins?

I just took the kotter keys out once and threw them into the tool box. I brush cut all summer and I haven't had a pin to come out. I doubt it would be a big deal even if one did, the other one is still there and if it fell out, the implement would just start moving from side to side.

Are you talking about the extendable links like the ones that came on my L3130?

Re: 3pt \"expansion\" pins?

Ron, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Do you remember what "chain" hardware store you went to? I'd be willing to buy a beer or 2 to get some of those. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have a good one,
Dave

Re: 3pt \"expansion\" pins?

If you look at the parts diagram I think you'll see what I'm talking about. It's not the extendable links with the ball swivels in them, but rather the arms that control how wide the lower 3pt arms can open. (if that makes sense?)

Have a good one,
Dave
