I'm thinking about purchasing a drill. Anyone have one they care to share any info on. My only experience has been a rented 7' trailer type truax(model?) and a great plains 1006nt. The truax works fine and the great plains is a beast! The problem is that I need one I can load up on an equipment trailer and run with. I would like to use it with 40-50 hp tractors.

Thinking about:

Great plains 606nt(don't think I have enough tractor, a jd 5210 maybe?)

Kasco eco-drill

Truax utility drill

Anyone else making a three point? Thoughts on these?

They are still around $2k a foot new, right? I'm hoping for a good used one at $6000-8500.

I looked two years ago at a Great Plains, 5' 3 point
all 3 boxes (native, regular, alfalfa)

right around $20,000

The Truax was cheaper.

OUCH! I bought a new great plains 1006nt(10') with grain and small box 2 years ago for $21,500. Figured I could get a little one for under 13k easy.

What weights fit the 606nt bracket?

Those no-tills are heavy. Be sure your tractor has the capacity on the 3pt hitch to lift it and the overall weight to handle that load. May have to add front weights to help the steering. Don't know how much farmland you have, but you need a bunch to justify the cost of those beasts.

Good luck.

So does anybody know?

The numbers on the drill work.

GP/Land Pride no till drills are the cream of the crop but are extremely pricey. The 3p606NT requires a 60 hp tractor to work it while the 606NT (which is on wheels) only requires about 45. The biggest reason is lift capacity. Kasco's eco drill or versa drill are good products as well. They are a little lighter than the GP drills but not quite as precise but none the less still good drills and used fairly extensively by food plotters.

I think if you are looking at getting it on one trailer with the tractor HP I would think that the best option would be going with a Kasco model.

If you are looking at doing no till for food plotting there are other options out there that do no till but not in the conventional sense as having an opener, closer, and press wheel. I know there's one called the firminator that looks good, the plotmaster, and this one made my woods that I am saving my pennies for made by woods called the precision seeder that cabelas just started carrying but dealers sell it for way less.
