Rural King Foton 404
Hello.

I have the Foton 404 (Rural King) tractor that is out of warranty now. I do not have a BH or FEL.

My problem is that the 3ph will not lower on its own when there is no attachment on it. Instead, the 3ph raises to the top position even when I lower the 3ph controls all the way down. When I have an attachment (such as a bush hog, rear blade, pallet mover), the 3ph works great--raises and lowers fine.

In order for me to connect attachments, I have to lower the controls, then push down the 3ph arms manually and connect attachments before the 3ph arms raise again. It's kind of annoying, to say the least.

Any ideas of what I should be looking for to correct this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Like I said up in other post, mine [a jinma] has a control knob thing down below seat,,it adjusts for what weight thing you got on back,[well kinda],,set mine up for brush hog and tiller,[heavy] and it takes a long while to lower on its own with out anything on three point,,,,but it never raises on its own,,that sounds weird,,unless maybe something on your three point lift arm/control is to tight [bolts to tight around that area],,,somebody else will chime in who has your brand, but who knows,it doesn't have down force on three point does it,,by that I mean it don't have what I think they call draft control? hydro pressure in the downward direction? if so,,thats a whole nother thing,,,,thingy

Thingy:

Thanks for the reply again. I'll check for a control knob under the seat. I'll have to do that after work tonight, since I'm stuck in the office dreaming about getting some seat time (have to replow the driveway, of course).

My TSC354C does the same thing, but that's typical of that particular make/model. It has something to do with the plumbing of the PTO-driven hydraulic pump.

There aren't many FT404 owners here - so related experiences are probably few. But I believe you should start by simply asking Rural King if it's normal for your make/model.

Does it happen to have a PTO-driven hydraulic pump?

DRAFT CONTROL DOES NOT = DOWN PRESSURE on THE 3PT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

draft control is just that.. automatic draft sensing for depth and 'pull' on an implement that is earth engaging!!!!!!

I do not know if it has a PTO-driven hydraulic pump. I'll have to look into that. Thank you for the help.

try some springs biasing the arms down if you dont need a lot of force to hold them down.

Rob,
I posted on your other thread.
You might want to contact Tommy at Affordable Sales. He sells and services Fotons.
Here is his email tommy@affordabletractorsalesco.com
He also posts on this Chinese Tractor site:
Chinese Tractor Owners Club Forum
There is a lot of good information that applies to all Chinese Tractors.
BTW, I think the new Fotons are one of the sharpest looking Chinese Tractors.

On the jinma line the valve/knob under the seat has a set screw in it that Locks it in place and is a small slotted head screw inline and needs to be loosened a bit so that the knob will turn or else you can strip the knob or the valve block or twist off the shaft the knob sets on...

One other thing is that the raise/lower handle may be sticky or leaking internally the 3pt lift arms should not raise on their own, if the are then the lever is not centered or the arm/valve assy that raises lowers it is leaking internally.

Hope it is not that but good luck looking

PS I got a bunch of seat time today plowing snow, ran out 1/2 tank of fuel. plowed drive parking area and made path to cabin, pulled out my stuck car which was all way at end of drive. My jinma started up OK but hadn't ran in 2+ months. had maintainer on battery = good, took a while of glow plugs and several tries to start, but she did get going... had to un-hook the pallet forks and put on the blade (old used one my 1st try using it.) worked OK got some plowing nice job after a bit of playing... ran fuel down to 0 left and the shed was snowed in so I put it away empty :( was getting dark and had to eat as I was starving still had 30 min drive to come back to city home. have my mail box i the back seat as snow plows tore it off

Have to fix that Saturday I guess...
