when I go up hill, my 3930 ford tractor doesn't want to pull. If I put it in a lower gear, it will go. My friend said it may be the clutch. Can anyone help me?
1993 NH 2120 (the best), 1974 MF 135 (sold, but solid), 1947 Farmall A (bought, sold, bought back, sold again), 1956 MH50 lbt (sold, in 1980, darn it)
Chain it to a big tree as if to pull the tree. Don't user he three point hitch. Start the engine, run it at maybe 1500 rpm, put it in the tractor's highest gear, and ease out the clutch pedal. If it promptly stalls the engine, your clutch is decent. If the engine slowly loses rpms and stalls, clutch is weak. If it keeps running, you need new clutch parts.
