I have a 3910 with 570 hours. The tractor wouldn't start, I found that the strainer in the tank was stopped up so I cleaned it. I replaced the filter and bled, also opened bleed screw on pump and bled with cut-off pulled. I'm getting no fuel out of injector lines..

You ca try a bit of ether but be careful not to use too much and lock up the engine. But if you don't know what you are doing with ether don't use it. It can be hard on an engine.

I'm not getting fuel out of the pump and I really don't want to start an addiction with the either. I think I have an internal pump problem.

I would retry the bleeding and see if fuel will move while injectors are loose,is there good flow from the tank ? I dont recall if that has a seperate pump prior to the inj pump.....

No separate pump.

I always believe in the K.I.S.S. principle. I'd confirm that it's properly bled first.

If it's a pump issue you are committed to removing the pump and taking it to a shop for repair. They'll totally rebuild the pump which will be quite expensive. You don't want to pay that bill without first eliminating all other possibilities.

By your post it sounds like tractor ran fine. Parked it. Came back later and tried to crank it and it wouldn't?? All within recent history time???

Lastly, it's a jewel if it only has 570 hrs on a 25 year old tractor. Which would contribute to the fuel system being gunked up. And possibly the pump compression being bad.

Let us know what you discover.

Straight gear trans? If so after bleeding a bit, pull start her

Only gravity, but a good flow.

It cranks over well but that's a thought.

Saves the starter, and runs the engine over much faster

Tractor wasn't run for five or six weeks, it wouldn't start. A friend tapped on the pump while I cranked and it started. After sitting for three weeks it wouldn't start. A diesel shop said they would go thru it and it would be about $500.00

Does that one use a pull kill cable, or is it key off with a fuel solenoid? If a solenoid, it may be stuck, if cable, make sure the linkage is at least moving and not broke

It's a pull cable and works freely.

When you added that you had tapped on the pump and got it to start that changed the scenario quite a bit. I'm guessing your pump is junk from setting. But as Soundguy said, drag it and see if you can get it to start, eliminating the possibility that you just haven't bled it properly. Sounds like you're gonna buy a pump. Wouldn't have surprised me for a pump rebuild to be higher than that.

Pulling it is a good idea. Use a higher gear like 2nd or 3rd high assuming 8 speed. If you get it to start, I would add some Power Service Kleen to the fuel and run it. If not, well that's not a bad price for a pump build.

Might be sticky plungers.

On units that have sat, I usually fill the new fuel filter with iector cleaner and start her that way.

Good luck
