Hello all..!
New here and with tractors.
I got 7 acres of bad land, pond, creek stumps,..and so on.
I got my hart set on either the 4020 or the 3820.
A near by dealer has both in stock
I can get either tractor with a loader, back-hole (7.5), 6ft bush hog
and a 6 ft finish mower for $23,500 out the door.
Good deal?
It's my understanding the only difference is the motor?
I'm kinda thinking maybe the 3820.
Any input on which one and price would be great!
As of this Saturday one of them is coming home with me /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
If anyone knows which one would be better please speak up.
Thanks
Gene
I also just found this site and will be checking in daily.
And yes I'm pumped!!

Welcome to TBN!

The 3820 is a newer model with a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. The 4020 is a 3-cylinder turbo. You'll want to consider that.

The newer loaders are the BL20A, and they are a pedestal mount which makes getting the side panels on and off a little easier and gives more room when doing a service. If one has that loader and the other has the BL20, factor that in to the equation.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. The price sounds very good.

Yea, the price seems decent. I think I might go the 3820 with the newer motor.

On Edit:
Nothing wrong with the older motor. Anyone know if the 4020 motor (Previous model) has wet sleeve cylinders? If not that would be one good reason to go for the 3820 (assuming you will keep it for many many years (easy to rebuild).

I'm also new to this site but have followed it for a few months. I bought a 4020 with FEL back in March. I've got just a few acres that needed cleaning, a few small trees that I removed. It has done more than I expected and I wonder why I waited so long to get one. I also got a 64" tiller, 6' bush hog,5'box blade and a 16' tandum trailer with brakes painted to match forjust under $20,000. I'm considering a back hoe but will have to wait.

Man these 2 tractors got me beating my brain /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
They both do have the new style loaders.
I guess when I get there (havent been to this dealer yet)
I'll have to make a decission.
This dealer is just across the state line in In, I'm in IL.
So I wont be paying any tax's.
My price was made over the phone.
I'm glad I snooped around, the local dealer here in IL
wanted $22,800 for a 3510 with a back-hole & loader only.
That was also with tax's though.
Anyway, I'm gettin a tractor!
And thats a good question about rebuild (sleves)
Thanks for the replys men.

Both engines have wet replacable sleeves, which is an exclusive, they are the only CUT on the market with them.

Well the hard part is over, went ahead and got the 3820
I could'nt wait until Saturday, picked it up last nite..thursday.
It was about dark out when I got home with it, and only .7hr's
on it.
No work for 2 weeks ..vacation now so I got time to play.
The motor is tight but not for long /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Anyway I figured the 4cly may be better off than the 3cly?
Even though the turbo is way cool on the 3cly
It's way to soon for me to give this thing a good or bad rateing
but as of now it seems to be loaded with power and the fit &
finish seems to be good.
I was able to bust up the beaver dam in my creek with the B/O last nite.
I think I'm really going to enjoy my 7 acres of bad land now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Well it's almost day light, time to go play /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I'll be back!

Congrats on the new rig!
Put up some pics when you get time (esp of the creek - sounds interesting).
BTW - What is a "B/O?"
Try to stay out of trouble - 2 weeks of vacation and a new tractor - WOW! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
