I may have a deal on a larger woods mower.

Product Details

They list the weight at 1440 pounds. Does that sound like too much weight for my 3725ch? The other option is the woods 72.30 that's a lighter duty unit.

I don't need the heaviest mower and I'm thinking the 7200x is just going to be extra weight since 99% of my mowing is field grass.

With your tractor and what you'd be using it for, I'd go with the lighter one. If you were cutting heavy brush I'd get a heavier built 5' unit (like a BB6000X), but for field grass this unit would probably be fine.

Do you normally mow with the FEL and bucket on? I would think you're going to want some weight on the front end with that mower. Are you always mowing flat ground, or do you have slopes? I am running a mower half that weight, but I hardly notice it back there. I was mowing slopes regularly without any problems, but I always mow with my FEL and bucket on, and my rears are filled with Rimguard. Your 3 pt is rated for double that mower's weight, so yeah, it will lift it, but you may not be able to use it on any sloped ground. Or steer it without just using the turning brakes.

I doubt the 72.30 would give you any problems at all, but I'd be afraid you'd be "poppin' wheelies" a bunch with the 7200X.

I think the 72.30 would be best if 99% is pasture mowing. My reason is not weight but the faster blade tip speed. Over 1000 fpm difference. Good luck with your choice!

As others have posted, it's not just the lifting capability of the 3 pt, it also has to do with the amount of weight on the front tires vs the position of the weight, and amount on the 3 pt. I have no problem with a light duty....40-45 hp gearbox implement on the rated hp or less. The problem comes in with the reverse. I learned the hard way that a 45 hp gear box with a 70 hp tractor and high centering on a ridge, safety PTO device in working order or not, can and did result in gear teeth flying.

I ordered the BB72.30. Woods quit making them in red so that's a little bit of a bummer. Oh well.

Cherry color in Rustoleum rattle cans at WW just about perfectly matches Branson Red.

I think my yellow Woods goes quite well with my red Branson. (I have been accused by my wife of being color blind though. Tasteless is probably more accurate though.)
