Price Check 3720 Cab, trade 2520

Quoted price from dealer today for new 3720 cab:

Tractor w/ cab = $32,775
300CX loader w/ 3rd hydraulic = $4,600
385 Backhoe = $8,000
72" Auto connect mower deck = $3,600

Total = $48,975

Trading in a 2007 2520 with 200CX loader, & backhoe less than 200 hrs (allowing $14,500)


According to list prices, it looks like they are giving me 15% off. What do you think about the trade in value??

I think you want the 485 hoe for sure. Not sure on the price difference, but the 485 is a nice step up from the 385. Mind as well do it right and get the bigger how IMHO.

As for trade in, that's about what you would expect from a dealer. They'll probably list it for $19k. You do have to leave a little meat on the bone for them to make money, so I think that's fair value. If you want that extra couple grand, I'd suggest selling it on your own.

I thought trade sounded fair, was just double checking. Dealer told me that I can't put a 485 hoe on the cab tractor.

The dealer is correct; you can't put a 485 backhoe on a 3x20 cab tractor. A 485 backhoe can be installed on a 3x20 open station though. That's the same dilema I had. I ev eventually wound up with a 3520 open station with a 488 backhoe and also a 3720 cab. You have to get a 4x20 series cab tractor to have a 485 backhoe. Go figure............

Learn something everyday! Looks like the 385 it is then. I wonder what the logistics behind that are? The 4x20's and 3x20's do have the same cabs, and the 485 can go on the 3x20's.

Back hoe observation:
It just seems so impractical to have a backhoe on a cab tractor.
Too much seat jumping to "reset" your position, even on the open station.
Personally I would buy a well used mini excavator with the 8k

Maybe I'm missing something, but the add on backhoe's on a tractor or skid steer just don't make sense to me...

I think the 3720 with a cab is a great choice.

I think the 3720 with a cab is a great choice.

Yep. Main reason I went with the 110 is the creep to reposition. I thought about a 4x20 with a cab and BH, but the hoe isn't near as strong and to move a foot you have to dismount, mount, remount from the BH to cab to BH. For occasional use, it is great, but for digging long trenches, it may turn into a major PITA.

If you auction hunt, we picked up our CAT 301.5 mini for about 11k, in at the big equipment auction in kissimmee florida. Had about 900 hours on it, still running strong with about 1700 on it now, only repairs have been 2 sets of tracks (ripped one off doing the drainage around my house this past summer) and some hydraulic line replacements.

That mini - for it's size - will out dig anything hands down, especially in speed, etc.
