Tractor
John Deere 4520 Cab
Between the 2 Prices are very close im know very confused because i want a cab but the larger tractor helps cancel the cab we have 14 acers witch we lease to a farmer witch we have 2 acers in fruit trees my dad wants some sweet corn so i have taken an acre for sweet corn i would like to take the other nine acres and plant hay on the property to donate to the horse rescue each year witch means more to me than leasing to the farmer

That's a tough call. I've been putting a cab off for a while, but the next time is a must. You do see a lot of power difference between the two. In your shoes, if you absolutely cannot afford the 4520 cab, I would look for a good used one. I looked on tractor house at all 3720, 4520, 4720's for sale and there are some good deals. I saw one 4720 with cab and loader for under 30k. That's what I would do.

I really like the 3x20 and 4x20 cabs. It really is worth the money. I would get the cab tractor.

I agree it is tough to make these decisions without blowing the budget but I am glad I bought the 4520 cab. I initially considered a 3720 but felt it was too small, really wanted to maintain the 4x20 size machine. Tractors are a long term purchase for me, upgrading is expensive so I suggest you get it right the first time with all the important features.

If you're really committed to future hay production - even if it's only 10 acres or so - go with a 4000 series machine! The $$/Hp ratio favor's the 4520 over the 4720 - IMO.

You didn't mention any other work or projects for the tractor. Depending upon the kinds of seasonal work that you might find for a new tractor; snow removal, road maintainence, etc. a cabbed 4520 might be the best long-term option.

As Steve mentioned, buying a tractor is best looked at in term's of an investment for the long-haul. So, looking at the current needs as well as the likely future uses of a tractor can make the decision easier to "spend a little more up-front" versus "spending a lot more later".

I already have a gator 825i I use that for snow with boss v plow for normal mowing I have a ferris is2500. We have a 2320 for years but we have out grown it with the property additions we have some smaller properties 2 acres and another 3 acres plus the large property I plan on keeping the 2320 for small projects. I was thinking of getting rid of the v plow on the gator because I dont have cab or heat that would help justify the cab tractor and get a loader plow for it so all my task.

Small hay work
700' driveway gravel maintenance and snow
Tilling 2 acre garden
Some brushhog work

Also what is the weight on a 4520 with loader I do not want to have to by a bigger truck

I would go for the larger frame and the Cab all the way if you don't have to work in the woods! Are you only considering new? I know the 0% financing can swing the price of new, making it a better deal then like new used in some cases for the long term. However, I would strongly suggest looking at used equipment.
