Has anyone out there found a flaring tool for JIC fittings that is under $50? I am tempted to try using my 45 degree tool. Any one tried that route?

Use what you have. the cone will conform, just don't over work the tube end. Pay attention to get the cone size right!

What's the worst that could happen? A small leak? PRACTICE on a piece of scrap tubing. tighten it up well to a fitting. Shake it and pull on it. Take it apart and have a look.

I've used the "wrong angle", ad it's worked fine.

Or go on Ebay and see what comes along.
