I was on my 3540 at night for the first time and noticed that when I turn the lights on, only the head lights come on, no rear lights at all. The turn signals and hazard lights work fine. Is this normal or should I have running lights too? My buddy says his JD 790 has running lights.

You should have running lights. Check at the lamp socket... should have 2 wires, one for signals and the other for running lights, ground is through the mount to tractor frame. Follow the wiring, it may have been damaged or unplugged. KennyV

You have them, because my 3540 does. Check as Kennyv said they are there.
