Montana 4344HST
Was working on a deal for a 3644hst and it was sold on me:( . the price was 17500. The store has offered me a 3440 for 15500, I believe with the 3 cyl. I was kinda hooked on the 4 cyl. Plan to do some brush hog work and the normall stuff, so the HP is important. but is the extra cyl and engine difference important.
Also (Montanaman) and others, opinion's on price? I'm in Oregon, so I expect a higher cost to offset the shipping to the west coast.

I've had a 3cylinder dadong (kioti) and I now have the 4 cylinder Mitsibushi in my 3644. There is a significant difference. The 4 cylinder is much smoother to drive and operate. I would keep looking. certainly you can finde either a montana or a McCormick (same LG tractor) close to you that some dealer is trying to get rid of and is willing to deal on. Go on the web sites and look for all the dealers of both these brands that are within a couple hundred miles of you and call and see if they have any 3644's. You may want to look at the straight 3644 also as well as the HST. the shuttle is really smooth, and the synchros are very good so there are very maneuverable and less money.

i looked at the 3 cyl today; what a tiny engine. Not happy with the longer wheel base and also the simpler transmission. I told the sales lady (a real nice person, but I seem to know more than she about the tractors) to tell her supplier in Portland, the 3 cyl wasn't going to do. I want a 3644, and will take a non-hst also, want to take advantage of the rebates. Seems silly to me that the 3644hst in the yard only has 500 in rebates-due to the folding ROP and a part related to the backhoe option.
I don't understand marketing.

My 3644 also has a foldable rop. I think they all do. I don't know about the backhoe attachment. I'd get somebody at that dealership or another to get a call into Montana and tell them this is the tractor you would like but you need the full 1500 rebate. Montana is pretty flexible and if your dealer has had the tractor for a while they should help them sell it. Push them a little. Sometimes you don't know unless you ask and sometimes the dealers have to get on the phone and talk to the area sales rep to give them some help.

If the dealer doesn't help you, you may go on the Montana website and look who the area sales manger is and talk to them yourselves. See if they can give you some help. Tell them your situation. They want to sell tractors, You want to buy one, certainly you can get together on a deal.

I appreciate this info.
The heat will be turned up tomorrow. Our "dealership" is a feed lot that has 4 Montana's in stock, run by a 50'ish lady and her husband; not exactly knowledgeable in the Montana system. They were told each tractor has rebates assigned to them based on it's configuration. So she is naive on this. I left her with the message to pass up, I want the 3644-with rebates, non hst would be OK. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Sounds to me like you need to look for another dealer. Is there any others dealers in the area?

Not really another Montana dealer, closest one is 1.5-2 hours away and seem to be of the same company..

Should I change this to 3440 vs 3644 vs 4344?

Found a 4344HST, and that price is the same as the lot 3644, so I said send it. The original loan was approves, so have to bump it up a "bit" but not a big issue.

Thanks for the help, hopefully by the end of this week I'll be seeing green.

Sounds like a great deal. And the 4344 will even be better. Same basic tractor but stonger motor and hydraulics. I don't think you could go wrong with it.

i have a gear drive 4344 - great tractor. you won't be disappointed if you were looking at something smaller already.
