3400 FEL water pump replacement

I'm replacing the water pump in my gas 3400, I'm rcoring the rad and cleaning a few things up. The problem I'm having is getting the room to remove the fan belt due to the front mounted hydraulic pump. I've unbolted the flange at the crank and unbolted and rotated the union at the pump. Does either the flange or the union need to be removed off the shaft. I've thought of loosening the pump but don't believe that will help.
