Hi all,
I have a new 3320 Cab tractor with 46 hours on it. Yesterday, as I was mowing the lawn, I heard a loud pop, and thought that I might have cut a tire or something. I got out of the cab, walked around the tractor and didn't see anything wrong, so I continued to mow for an additional 2 hours.

Once I shut the tractor down, I heard a loud hissing noise coming from under the hydro pedals. Upon closer inspection, there is a hose from the tractor to the cab that actually rests very near the mid PTO shaft for the 7 Iron deck. From what I can see, the shaft wore through the hose.

Needless to say, I'm not impressed with the engineering. I called the dealer, and they are coming to get it on Thursday. They made no mention as to if it would be covered under warranty, but I did reiterate that the hose seems to be in a bad place from the factory. I will keep you posted, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this problem, or even a concern as to the hose placement.

Thanks
C

I have a 3320/cab model with the same setup. I've noticed something rubbing the pto shaft, but haven't found what. Please keep us informed.

I rerouted several hoses on my 3520 cab. There are lots of hoses that are going to fail because they come in contact with another hose or something else. I had my cab mounts off when I was reinstalling my custom JD blade mounts behind the 300cx loader mounts, so I took the opportunity to fix any hoses or lines that may wear due to friction. I wasn't impressed with the way they routed alot of lines on the 3520. Thats one of my complaints about the tractor.Better design and care should have been used in this area.

Well, the dealer called me back. It was the Airconditioning supply hose that was rubbing on the pto shaft. They are going to reroute this and the heater hoses so that they do not come in contact with any moving parts during the repair. It is covered under warranty thankfully. I'm having the rear wiper, rear work lights, and bubble light installed at the same time, so they are making a pretty penny during the service anyway. I'll let you know if they do a good job on the re-route.

I noticed that same problem with mine. When I put the deck on for the first time, I saw there would be a problem. I just zip tied it up to the frame. Also, like others have said, I went around the machine and isolated and rerouted various other coolant and A/C hoses, mostly around the bottom of the cab ROPS, where the hoses run up.

I think I may have said this back when I first got mine, at some point, there are going to be a LOT of hoses and cables to deal with on these cab tractors.

chris, I agree. There was just no much care or thought put into routing the hoses on the cab tractors. As you said at some point its going to become a pain to replace the hoses that are haphazardly run and will in time fail.
