I'm finely getting the 3235 today about 4pm.I will not have the owners manual. It is on order not sure when i will get it.My question for now is about the throttle. On my GT1554 i have to keep it at full throttle and shout it down wide open.Do i have to do this with the 3235?I'm thinking i could run this at any thottle sittinf?Being it has a lot better trany that wont be getting as hot? Also should i idle it down before i shout down?(this is what i was use to before the 1554)

Thanks

The 3235 will probably backfire if you close the throttle before turning it off. I have to open the throttle at least half-way before shutting it off.

I have a '04 GT 3235 a) I run it wide open all the time b) On shut down - I put the throttle all the way down for 1min or so and then pop it up to 1/2 and shut down. This eliminates the backfire MOST of the time, still get the occasional.

Congrats on the tractor...they are beasts and can take ALOT of punishment (trust my I know)....

How hard is it to take the deck off and more importantly how hard to get it back on.It seems to be close to the set up on my gt 1554,well minus the shaft.

I don't know what size deck you have but the 54 incher weighs around 260 pounds so the weight is the biggest hurdle. You have to compress the collar around the u-joint at the engine end of the shaft and slide it off the spline. I found I had to jack up the front end to get enough clearance to slide the deck out. It's not complicated - just a lot of grunt work. I think I've only removed mine 2 or 3 times since 2004. The first was to disable the No-Reverse-Mow switch.

On my 3225, the left side lift link has a "deck installation position" that allows the mower deck to be slid out the left side. If yours has this capability, it will save a lot of work.

Basically, there is a spring loaded detent arrangement. Lower the deck/links. Unhook the deck support pins from the links, then hold the left lift rod (the threaded bit that connects the link to the hydraulics) down, lift (with your hand) the back of the link a little and you'll be able to push the lift rod toward the front of the tractor. This will allow you to swing the lift link out of the way and provides clearance for the deck to slide out the left side.

Hope yours is set up like this, too!

Mine ('04 GT3235) has the same thing, doesn't work worth a darn. I put a 2-ton jack under the the rear left tire and jack it up a few inches, then push the deck out from the righ. It is a BEAST (I have the 54"/260lb beast). I bought an engine hoist that I use to lift the deck off the ground and move around/service.

Hmmmm... The detent system on mine didn't work when I got it. The bent washer and mangled spring were sticking out below the lift rod. I assumed that it had gotten caught in brush or something and ruined. Following a trip to my favorite aisle in my favorite hardware store, I replaced these bits with a new washer arrangement and a new spring and it worked really well.

I really like the idea of a hoist. I have the 60" mower and moving it around sure isn't much fun either. I guess I'll add that to the wish list! Thanks for the idea!

I, too, have an '04 3235. Same results as the other posters... run it wide open, on shut down I back it down all the way to let it rev down and then right before turning the key off run the throttle up all the way. Backfires still happen once in awhile, but aren't too bad. Judging from everyone else I have a "baby" 48" deck on mine. I back the tractor up onto some 3" thick cinder blocks and pull it out discharge side first. It's still over 200 pounds and is a chore to take off in the fall. The first thing I did was disable the reverse PTO lock-out as well. Good luck with it... they're great units.

I got the deck off.I jaked up the front(jake under bumper).i talked with my dealer and they jake up the back(jake under hitch).I well try that next time.I should have stated its the 60" deck. It's no harder to move around than the 54" deck on my other mower.I have taken the wheels-costers off and rollers and I'm starting to get it looking good. After cleaning the top of the deck it looks almost new.Under the deck is a little more work, but it wasn't bad but still alot of wire brush work etc, almost done. Also i have alresdy had to tap a greese zert hope i don't find any more. They sharpend the blades, but IMO not very good,I don't think they even took them off?Not sure what i will do about that yet it maybe good enough, after a couple of mowings it would probable be the same.
As far as the tractor,I took off the side panels and grill cleaned and waxed she's looking good. The hood has a dent on top of it,looks like something must have fell on it?I looked at taking the hood off to pop out the dent. But i desided to live with it,the paint over the dent is fine and if i mess with it i may pop the paint off(its not that bad).
Not sure i will like the oil drane.
I have not drove it much(way to wet around here)Plus i'm trying to clean it up.But this machine is night and day next to my GT 1554.I will not compare the two because i could go on and on.I will say one thing it even starts better than the gt1554 and it is not as loud.
So far i'm very happy if it works and last as long as it seems to be built i should be happy for years.
