it is hard to steer. it is brand new. maybe needs to be limbered up...the manual says there are grease zerks on the tie rods, but i don`t see any grease zerks. are the zerks covered up with a cap or something????

First, check your front tire pressure. I'd suggest about 20 PSI with no loader and 25-30 PSI if you're using a loader. Also, check the level of the hydraulic fluid. The steering works off the same reservoir as the rest of the hydraulics (the way I read the manual), so check the level per your manual.
If the tire pressure and hydraulic fluid level is OK, contact your dealer. Has the machine been hard to steer since you bought it? If so, contact the dealer.

As far as greasing the zerks...go to your manual. It clearly shows the tie rod grease fittings. Look under Service Lubrication, Lubricating Machine Grease Fittings. If you haven't read your manual yet, I suggest you read it cover to cover. That manual will answer many of your questions.

Dieselade, reading the manual is always a good thing to do. However, don't assume that if a grease fitting is shown in the manual, it is on your machine. I have an '06 3720, and the Owner's Manual clearly shows grease fittings for the power steering cylinder ends, but they are not there (apparently a production change).

My new 3320 does not have any zerts either. The manual shows them. They must have made a change. I am going to check with my dealer.:D

Hi Jerry...contacting the dealer would be a good idea. Since both your's and Dave's manuals are in error, the manuals need revising..

FYI, the 790 manual is on it's third revision since 1999

I did read the manual and that is why i asked about seeing no zerks as compared to the manual saying there are zerks. and i checked some tractors at the dealership yesterday and they had no zerks. so maybe jd has changed to lifetime lube. i`ll check at the dealership service dept. anyway, the steering doesnt compare to my 4310 which is easy.

Are there plugs? I know that with my car, I needed to install grease fittings at all locations the first time around.
